I purchased a new throttle cable from Pelican. Yes it was the cheapest one they had. I figured it's a cable, how bad can it be. The ferrel that is on the end which mates to the firewall fell off when I removed it from the packaging. I installed it anyway. Needles to say, I am greatly disappointed. What a piece of junk. We used to run some really nice cables in the off road cars. Thick didn't bind etc. But the few places that used to carry them are all out of business. Please direct me to a good cable. I don't want to do this 3 times.
Terry cable

This is the type of cable I'm used to seeing and using. I will have to make a big modification to the car to run this set up. It would have to run on top of the tunnel.
Ok. So Terry cable is the recommendation. There site doesn't have any pics for that particular cable. Anyone have pics of a Terry cable?
Thank you for the link with pics. I ordered a Terry Cable. Thank you for your help.
Please give feedback to pelican or call them.
I have.
I had 2 fail.
Many others on here also
They need to quit selling that piece of junk
Do follow up with Pelican, they are good guys I'm sure that they will make it right.
I had the same experience here recently. I bought a cheap cable and couldn't get a smooth light pedal feel. I finally bought a terry cable and it was a much better fit and works so smooth.
I've found a stock cable just isn't long enough to reach my Tangerine carb linkage which I had to mount on the rear of the carbs to avoid interference with the engine tin (I have the short carb manifolds). I used motorcycle cable and bike housing & ferrels and it's been working great for the past couple years. Very smooth and nice routing due to the custom length. My only fear is what to do if it breaks on a trip...I really need to make a spare.
The only reason I didn't contact Pelican about the problem was the fact I installed it. I should have known better.. Lesson learned.
Do them a favor. Let them know they are selling junk. Maybe they will make it right. Let us know.
I too bought the throttle cable as well as the heater flap control cable from Pelican. Throttle cable broke on installation. The wall thickness of the ferrel attaching to the engine end was way undersize. The threaded end was cut rather than rolled, and the remaining wall thickness too thin. Broke right away. A cut thread provides a stress riser at the thread root. The saga of the heater flap control had the crimped ends too long not allowing them successful routing through the tunnel tubes especially at the right angle bent ends. Called and was told to straighten out of the tube until the ferrel passed the bend. Don't think so !!!!
Worked Tech Service for a major Corp and these cases are ripe with the Seller not attempting due diligence of "Fit for Use". Pelican needs to better assess the products they sell rather than to just sell a part for intended use that on paper makes then $$$$
Crap....I just got one. I got the GEMO
Is it the one that everyone hates?

I installed one of the Terry cables 6 months ago, no problems so far. Be careful when you install it, easy to get it wrapped around the clutch cable near the front of the tunnel
I called and talked to Cassondra Kelley in customer service at Pelican. She was awesome.
I had a RMA email in about 4 seconds and she assisted me in ordering a terrycable. The GEMO is going back.

Thank you for contacting us regarding the return of one or more parts associated with your recent order. We have issued a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Number for you. This number is:xxxxxxxxx and must be written on the outside of the box when you send it to our facility. Please also print out this email and include it with your return. Packages that arrive with confusing or no documentation slow down the processing of your return and will delay the crediting of your account.
Please be sure to package the parts very carefully, and to also place them in the original factory packaging in which they arrived. If the parts arrive back damaged at our facility, we unfortunately cannot accept them back for credit. Please do not write anything on the manufacturer's packaging or boxes. Please take extra caution in repacking the box, and you might want to insure the package and send it via a trackable method in case it does become lost. We cannot issue credits for packages that were lost or damaged in transit on the way back to us. Very rarely do packages get lost - the largest problem we face is typically new parts getting scratched or damaged on their way back to us. For everyone's sake, please take special care to prevent any damage or scratching of the parts.
Returns are collected, logged, and inspected throughout the week, and refunds are typically processed over the weekend. We will send you an email update when your credit is processed. Please allow 2-3 days for the actual credit to show up on your bank card statement, once your credit is processed.
Our receiving address for returns is:

Just a heads up, you can buy the terrycable $10.00 cheaper from terrycable then from Pelican. However, shipping if $5.00 more so its a net $5.00 difference.
Just to clarify, this isn't about the vendor, it's about the brand of the product. Terrycable is a safe buy.
A new spare Gemo is sitting in my cars trunk when I bought it. Guess I will toss it in the garbage and get a Terrycable as a spare instead. Thanks for the great info all.
another good option is the original equipment Porsche cable
I bought one after the 2 bad experiences I had
ran it all last race season with zero problems
This thread makes me sad, as the first part I bought for my car was the gemo cable. It seems to work fine, but if I routed it up through the proper hole in the tin, it wasn't flexible enough and would bind. I figured it was just an issue with the carb linkage setup, but maybe it's not.
The Italian made Cofle brand cables are very good quality and work well. The Terry cables are heavy duty, but also have a lot more drag due to very thick cable.
I installed the Terry cable today. Works perfect!!
i have used a cofle and gemo, i see no diff, after 8nyears both wor fine
