914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Common 3 gauges in a center console?

Posted by: dgraves Mar 27 2017, 10:20 PM

The 1974 2.0L that I bought last year had a 911 5-gauge instrument dash installed. The dash has a combo Fuel & Temp gauge, combo Oil Temp & Oil (Druck) Pressure gauge, Speedo, Tach, and Clock. The center console has Amp, Voltmeter, and CHT gauges. I have no idea if the center console was stock or an add on.

I'd like to remove the center console and open up the space, but mount 2 gauges under the dash. So, the question for smarter guys than me...of the Amp, Voltmeter, and CHT, which one do you not "need".

This is a great forum for new 914 owners. It's stripped and heading to the paint shop next week. Can't wait.

Many thanks.

The temp dial in the center console isnt that oil temp? Not Cht?

Anyway I'd keep the temp gauge and the volt gauge. The volt gauge quickly tells you if you have charging issue, ie a thrown alternator belt.

Stock the car came with Volt, Temp and a Clock.

The center console has CHT, Voltmeter, and Amp gauge. I have Oil Temp and Oil Pressure in my dash. Thank you.

Of the three you have now in your console, I'd ditch the ammeter. Not all that useful, IMO.
