The guys at 914Rubber were nice enough to send me the subwoofer box for the passenger floor, and will also be sending the retrofitted speaker mounts in the next week or two.
My amp will arrive tomorrow....
Question is... where did you all put your amp's?
I assume the back trunk is best and it is small enough to still allow for storage of the top, but what did you do to keep it from sliding around? building a box?
I hate to actually screw it into the truck...

My car had dealer AC, so I repurposed the holes to the front trunk for wiring. You don't really want to run stereo wires along power wires, it adds noise.
I have an old style amp so the front truck was the only option, but the new digital amps are small enough to fit in the center console - between the seats - under the dash. Which amp did you get?

No doubt a much bigger one then I needed, but I know nothing about car stereo's so..... we'll see if I can even hook it up right!

It may fit under the dash or center console if you have one. Just make sure it has air flow, bc those things can get hot! If you drill/screw into the front trunk wall, make sure you don't accidentally perforate the gas tank, even a tiny tiny bit. Otherwise, wiring should be easy. Lots of people run a direct hot wire from the battery, just make sure it's properly fused. Securely ground directly to the body somewhere close to the amp.

And no heat problems?
I was hoping behind or under the passenger seat.
Not wanting to drill holes in the truck and don't have a welder.

Did exactly the same as Jeff. Worked great. Sub lived in center console.

Good idea... I've also got an Alpine V12 but I'm a ways off from installing it - how does it sound with the roof off?!

Yes, I welded it to the fire wall and painted it to match the car. Then put the carpet back. The fire wall is slanted so it makes the amp sit at a 90' to the car.

I have a small 70watt amp that I had attached on the underside of the dash. Modern digital amps are so small they can go almost anywhere.

70 watt? And I have a 1200 watt.... hmmm.... might need to downsize that one.

Yours is double the power of mine and I rarely turn it up that high. Mines a 4x50rms in the daily, 4x75rms for the 914 because it is not nearly as quiet inside.
If I was buying a new amp I'd get a small digital one and stick it inside somewhere.

Small amps are for sissies... more power usually means better speaker response equaling better sound overall. If you want less volume, there's a knob for that!

I am still in the process of getting the speakers dialed in. Right now just Tweeters and Mids so it doesn't have the lows yet.
