Don't know if this was ever posted before:

Back in the 1970's there were a couple of the auto magazines who did look back articles on the 914, & they published that a lot of Architects, Engineers, Scientists, etc. (I'm in the former of those) drove 914s & made up a majority of buyers. I don't recall offhand now if it was R&T, MT or another magazine.
Yes - we smart guys & gals - knew that the 914 was the superior handling machine, over the tail-dragger sibling, which has only been tamed over decades & $10,000s of electronics!
I also considered then late model 60's 911s & 912s too, but felt the 914 was the better platform, & offered at a better price.
So IMHO - anyone who chooses to drive a 914 is a smart guy or gal!
There were/are other "theories" of what the 911, 930, Vette, Ferraris, Maz's, etc. car guys were lacking, that drove them to offset that "shortcoming" with one of those aforementioned cars!

I was watching a documentary about using carbon nanotubes and their applications and one of the guys was driving around in a 914... not sure how smart he was, but he seemed smarter than me.
