Found a Saratoga top that requires repair.

The front latches are not directly attached to the top like the standard roofs. Instead, the latches were attached to a fiberglass piece about 3" wide and 30" long. This piece was glued to the plexglass along the font edge of the top.

The glue has seriously deteriorated; the fiberglass piece needs to be re bonded to the plexiglass.

What product should I use ? Where is a small crack on one leading edge, what can be done to repair to keep it from spreading ?

Has anyone been down this road ?

Thanks

Jim, I have restored my Saratoga top and what I have noticed is that there seem to be different details on different tops..maybe they revised the design over the few years they were made? I looked at Mike Dodgens top at the WCC and it was different than mine.

I dont have any photos of the finished top right now, but here is one of the in-process photos. Mine has a wide aluminum flat stock piece across the front, set up on thick, but spaced blocks which are glued to the plexi top, similar blaock are at the rear two hook supports. No fiberglass that I know of. I would go to Tap Plastics and see what products they recommend for repairs. They had a great product for reattaching the neoprene rubber weatherstrips to the plexiglas.

The tops do vary. I was surprised that this top extends all the way back, like the original.

Thanks for assist.

There are several here in the Bay Area, I would think there may be similar companies in SoCal. They have an internet store too:
