Perhaps I didn't phrase my initial post on this very well, but I'm wondering if anyone in the Bay Area would be willing to loan or rent me a 1970-72 chrome front bumper for a week. It would have to be a very nice one, as I'd like to "debut" my car at Luft with a better bumper than mine but there isn't time to have it redone. I'd obviously pledge to return it in same condition or rechrome it if not.

Anyway, if anyone can help, please PM me! I know it's an odd request...but we 914 people can be a bit odd, right?
Logistically I am not well located here in Sacramento but I have a pretty nice front bumper I would be willing to let you use.
It is up in the rafters in the garage so I can't get a picture right now.
It came with me car when I bought it but was part of a group buy on re-chromed bumper by a shop in LA in 2009.
When I picked the car up I thought it looked real nice but I never looked real close at it and it has been in the rafters for 2 years now.
Figuring out how to get it from Sac to SF and then back again latter?

May have an option in Sacramento thanks to Jim.
Curious if there someone can help who is closer in Marin, west East Bay, SF, Sonoma, Napa, etc.
Would rather keep this as a car nut to car nut community thing than a transaction kind of thing. BTW, free Prototyp issue to the first one to help me. Might be able to dig some other stuff up, such as NOS targa top holders and plastic cups. Or maybe I have something else someone needs in my stash. Want this to be fun for whoever I do this with. Just would be nice to show the car with a nice front bumper with proper gaps (which is where mine comes up short—for now).
Best,
pete
I would help but in all my years of 914 ownership i never had a chrome bumper, nice or otherwise.
I wonder if Randy from Roadglue has a suitable bumper?

I'm going to Sac on Tuesday and returning Weds. I go there every couple of weeks.

Some pictures of the bumper.
