914World.com _ 914World Garage _ GM Style Alternator Conversion

Posted by: aggiezig Apr 30 2017, 07:40 PM

I've been lurking through some old threads where people have claimed to use a GM style 3-wire internally regulated alternator in place of a factory Bosch still unit. I am hoping to do the same thing.

Can anyone that has successfully done this conversion share some pics or part numbers for an alternator that might work? I realize there may be some custom bracket fabrication involved.

I am looking for a way to add some amperage, remove the external regulator, and not break the bank. Thanks

Do you need that many amps?

That's exactly what I'm looking for... just trying to find where to buy such an alternator and what the part number / manufacture might be.

Nope, I don't need 150 amps, probably half of that would suffice. But, I'll take what I can find.

Thanks for the link. I may PM McMark for some specs if he is willing to share.

My local starter/alternator repair shop builds 90 amp Bosch units.

This member was offering a bolt on kit. Bit spendy for my tastes.
