914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Longer Distributor Ignition Wire

Posted by: mmascari Apr 30 2017, 08:45 PM

I am doing a six conversion and relocated the coil to where the battery is located. I need a longer distributor wire to go from the coil to distributor. Can someone suggest a source to find a longer than stock cable?

The longer the electrical circuit, the more resistance you will have. Resistance causes current drop and that causes heat. The heat causes resistance, more resistance causes more current drop, and the circle continues...

Talk to your coil manufacturer (are using Bosch or Pertronix Flamethrower or other)? I would doubt a single coil wire of less than 10 feet would cause any difference in spark duration. That being said, a SHORTER coil wire is better. Given your desire to mount over by the battery tray, probably only need a 3-4ft wire.
