914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Headlights - popping up but not going down

Posted by: mmascari May 6 2017, 09:47 PM

I am working on my electrical system so its ready when my engine is done. I am testing the headlights and found that the headlights are popping up when pulling the headlight switch but not going down when I push the switch off. Any ideas?

Did you mess with the adjustment knobs?

Yes, if I adjust them back down manually using the knobs then pull the headlight switch again they pop back up. I dont hear the motor when I push the headlight switch in. Weird.

I have a couple of known good motors from my car (75). If you want them, I work in Santa Clara near the airport.

Since its both of them...wouldnt it rather be the switch thats faulty?

Mike -

most likely the wiring on the headlite switch to the relay is goofed up or just has come loose

it's a convoluted setup twixt multiple switches

yo can find good diagrams if you search here or google it

here is a good start

fwiw i recently rewired mine so they only pop up on full ON, not in park position, and rewired my TS so the euro park & individual gage signals both work correctly - took a LOT of hours -

If it's been more than 6 hrs, I think you're supposed to call your doctor.

Mine have done this before. The pull knob on the switch was screwed in too far, backed it out a little bit till the headlights went back down.
