Posted by: GWN7 May 10 2005, 10:11 PM

Yeah, I did it after I painted them too. So I had to go back and repaint them. I got the T fittings from Kymco down here in Costa Mesa, you can probably get them at any VDub place. Kymco charged me like 9 bucks each as opposed to someone telling me they were only 5 each.

Mike, since you have it all right there, why dont you make up a few dozen and sell them. I would take a couple of them. I am pretty sure Aaron will too and maybe Bernbomb as he runs the same calipers on his car.

Brass? AL? steel?

Posted by: skline May 10 2005, 10:32 PM

I would think brass since the T fittings I have are brass.

The Volvo units are very much bigger than the BMW units. And a lot heavier. I'll try to get out in the shop tomorrow sometime and measure them.

I have 15" wheels and no clearance issues. (disclaimer, I'm running spacers) I was attempting to upgrade to a 4 piston unit without increasing the unsprung wieght. These were a direct fit without the pad over hang issues and machine work needed for the BMW 320 units.

Depends upon year and model fitted to:

160 Series.....ATE (Vented Rotor)....'72-'75
Girling (Soild Rotor)....'67-'74

240/260.....Girling Solid Rotor.....'75-87
Girling Vented Rotor.....'75-'87
ATE Solid Rotor.......'75
ATE Vented Rotor.....'75

Good luck on your choice..................

3" spacing

Solid Rotor....'75-'87 Volvo 240/260 Girling

Vented Rotor...'75-'93 Volvo 240/260 Girling

Have not measured the ATEs as yet, but should be the same.

And if you have 911 struts don't you want 3.5" spacing ?

Solid rotor...BMW(whatever), Bavaria...'71-'77

http://www.fcpgroton.com/volvo240brake.htm#calipers

Check the link above that was posted....$60 each loaded (yeh, they want a $25 core and shipping).

Posted by: dlo914 May 11 2005, 05:12 PM

i will admit that's a better price, but the shipping of the cores wouldnt be so nice. i'd prefer having a lifetime warranty. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker/?UseCase=C001&UserAction=answerRequiredQuestion&Parameters=%7C%7EWITH+SOLID+ROTOR&PageSync=5 and 20% employee discount biggrin.gif

FENCO (Fenwick) is a rebuilder out of Canada

ARI (American Remanufacturers, Inc..old ACEI) is out of Anaheim, CA.

ron, either one any good?

Posted by: SLITS May 11 2005, 06:03 PM

I'd prolly go with ARI (my apologies to the Canucks) based on business experience.

ARI down here does calipers, boosters and CVs. Their name (before acquisition) was Automotive Caliper Exchange, Inc (ACEI).

Fenco does everything in their Canadian location.

If you can afford new...get new!

rebuild kits for girling calipers are 23 bucks a pair... smile.gif

Halfway down the page, again that is for 914 solid rotors. Not sure if they come with pads, spreader springs or what.
