Another excellent Red Rocks Classic! Sorry to Okteenerfest that this event is the same as that one - I'd love to be at both. Looking forward to Star Trek-esque transporters to achieve that next year!

Schedule:
The schedule is do what you want this year. We'll have dinner reservations but the rest is free form. Here are some suggestions.
Thursday: Arrive - walk to dinner from the hotel around 7pm - pick burgers at Grind (701 Grand) or tacos at Slope and Hatch (208 7th) which are right next to each other. Both have non-meat options. If you'd rather not walk anywhere, Tequilas is across from the hotel, or there's a beer garden close with a Mexican food truck. There is a vintage car race at Aspen/Snowmass around 30 minutes down hwy 82 during the day for anyone in town.
Friday: Hotel parking lot dinner around 7:30pm. Suggested activities: Early drive to Hanging Lake - hike to the lake or there's a great bike/walking trail along the Colo River that goes by the Hanging Lake lot. Rent/bring a bike and ride down the Colo River trail. Have some fun at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park - a lift takes you up the mountain to explore caves, take the alpine slide and other fun stuff. Ron is leading a drive Friday morning from Glenwood to McClure Pass beside the Crystal River and pass by Carbondale, Redstone and Marble on the way up.
From the end of the drive, you’re on your own to continue on, hike, fish, or head on down to plenty of restaurants options in the towns mentioned. Ron is thinking he'll do a hike in Marble Friday.
Saturday: Walk to dinner at Glenwood Canyon Brewing, 402 7th St, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, from the hotel around 6:45pm (0.6mi), dinner reservation is at 7pm. Suggested activities - Drive down 82 through Snowmass, Twin Lakes, then up hwy 24 through Leadville and Minturn then back to Glenwood via I-70. Or drive to Marble (82 to 133). Or, attend Porsche Day at Woody Creek in Snowmass in the a.m., and the car show at Snowmass Village in the afternoon. Or, take the Snowmass Village gondola up the mountain and hike down (or gondola down) in the a.m., and the car show at Snowmass Village in the afternoon. Ron is leading a drive Saturday morning from Glenwood to Ruedi Reservoir Basalt and follow along the famous Frying Pan River and back for the Snowmass Car Show.
Sunday: Try to find someone to have breakfast with if you want. And miss us already!
All day every day: Shenanigans!
Jeff from PCA asked me to post this info if anyone wants to join the Snowmass Motoring Classic activities.

Had great time at last year's RRC hope we can work it into our schedule for this year.
Car is running great, and would be even more fun
The facebooks doesn't seem to be working tonight. I would love to attempt, once again, to attend since my new engine seems to be not exploding currently. Prolly just me, because I can party way harder on my own. Maybe I can find some ABQ types to caravan.
You said Shenanigans!
I will be there, and my brother from Florida might fly in, the hotel is booked Friday evening through Sunday morning.
There will be at least one more car (non-NARP) from Durango (his hotel is booked) and possibly more since they are interested in the Aspen-Snowmass Rally. I will let you know totals as we get closer.
I'm in the planning stage
I'm planning to attend ThursdayPM - Sunday, solo. I'll make hotel reservations later today. Thanks
Not this year, maybe next year.
Hotel reservation made...it's going to be a long drive from Phoenix
Annd.... I'm going to Octeenerfest this year instead of only driving a few hours away. A good chance to see my kids who only live an hour from the venue so I'll get to show them what goes on at these events. They're looking forward to the car show on Saturday so they'll know what dad constantly raves on about...!!
And the GREAT morning coffee.
Reservations made. All days, any amount drive, hike or bike. Linda and me.
Just a morning BUMP - so some folks in Durango could see the event - there could be as many as 4 non-NARPs coming.
Ahhhh I love the smell of WEED in the morning....
SO excited to see everyone! We are working on a plan to attend some Snowmass race stuff on Saturday. Stay tuned!
You got that right justin. Your pops, me and jim 'talking' and drinking kona coffee before he cut out from escalante 2 years ago @ 0 dark 30. I cleaned your dad's headlights after he raised them for departure. "Wait a minute ron..."
You might consider a Glenwood Springs-Minturn-Leadville-independence Pass-Aspen-Glenwood drive. The pass is one of the most spectacular paved roads in Colorado and Leadville one of the most historic cities.
Would love to make another RRC and may still register, but can't seem to get the rebuilt engine to run. So frustrating, car was running fantastic until it blew a capped air injection tube out of the head. So after a set of rebuilt heads plus investing in new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, injectors, and SS fuel lines it won't run. Think it must be a ground/ele short somewhere. We'll eventually find it or talk to Ross about a transplant!
Dan
Please make hotel reservations by Aug 14. That's when our reduced rates expire.
Add me to the list
I think I might be able to make it this year... Thanks for thinking about me adding me to the list...
Rebuilding motor with my son, fingers crossed...
1000 miles. 15 hours driving. I'd like to be there but I'm gonna have to give it some thought. Pretty sure my car could make it. Not quite so sure I can.
Hey Folks, I updated the initial post with additional planning (or lack thereof) information. This year is going to be pretty free form in terms of schedule.
Does the Facebook event work? I keep getting a " Event can't be loaded it may have been cancelled " message
I'm planning on going; gotta fly in. To Denver or Grand Junction.
I'm planning on going; gotta fly in. To Denver or Grand Junction.

This is the tshirt link! Thanks JP and Ross! http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=312709&st=0#entry2502708
I should have added the photo of the awesome shirt.
For all you peeps that say you cant make it because of a non-running car, financials or whatnot, let me tell you about my experience getting there last last year....
I hitched a ride with a 914 guru there. Shared cost of travel and room. Got to ride shotgun on the runs with teener peep we all love and even got to work on ye said teener again.
Hitched a ride to Grand Junction with some more great 914 peeps, then hitched another ride to Green River with even more awesome 914 lovers.
Had to be picked up and taken to Price by my family for Mom's surgery, but the day after that I took Greyhound to SLC Airport and caught a pre-paid flight back to Las Vegas.
So There!!
In addition to meeting up with a great group of 914ers, the Colorado scenery is worth it !
This will be my 3rd RRC...
If I change my mind about going Jim, you get to drive my car while I operate the camera.
I plan to be there in my car. Which still has no drivetrain in it. Finally getting settled into my new place. Hope to start getting the shop organized this weekend. I do have the lift in there with my car hovering over it. I'll get it up in the air this weekend. My first project is going to be doing the Hydraulic clutch setup. My cradle should be done soon which will make things speed up greatly
Damn 1200 miles for me & about 18 hours one way .
I'm in!
Wife's schedule changed so she won't be traveling that weekend and can stay home with the kids!
Just me, so I should be in for all the activities.
E
Put me on the list ......... we need a doobie smoking icon.
I'll be there
Booked
I know your not into giving away prizes but I'm bringing some prizes for give away any way.
Is it legal to drive a different mid-engine car to this? Don't want to trust the 914 all the way from north Scottsdale, but I would trust the Boxster Spyder... this looks very tempting.
Hey Folks, make your hotel reservations by Aug 14 - reduced rates expire after that date... which is in 5 days. Specifically this coming Monday.
Countdown = 30 days.....
Booked. Leaving the Valley early on Thursday. :-)
I just booked a room. I got in on the last day to get the lower rate. Now I just have to decide if I want to put 2000 miles on the car in one week.
Mine's booked, now all I have to do is get the car running...again...since last week's SNAFU.
I'm in and excited to be able to finally attend this event.
I just dropped my car at the paint/body shop to touch-up the car after 6 months reassembly.
I got out of the car and he walked up to the car and said "Mike - the car looks terrific, shame about the windshield".
Sure enough - on the maiden voyage I picked up a chip and a 5 inch crack.
4 weeks and counting........ Last time I had an insurance claim on the glass they had to order parts from Germany...
Just remove it and get a pair of these.

Hey Folks, Brant and I have been talking to the guy coordinating the Porsche part of the Motoring Classic event in Snowmass, CO (30 mi SE of Glenwood Springs) Sept 14-17. The PCA group has invited us to join their event. For $45 you get a polo shirt, can join their Friday morning drive to Red Cliff, CO, and be in the car show Saturday afternoon. This doesn't include racing since that's already full. Whether or not you officially join the event, they welcome any or all of us to come watch the Porsche track event at Woody Creek on Saturday morning. Please let me know if you want to join the event and I'll send you the registration link. You don't have to register if you only plan to watch the track event and/or watch the car show. Jeff with PCA specifically said all are welcome regardless of vehicle aesthetics when I initially told him our vehicle is somewhat aesthetically challenged. He did not preemptively throw that out there because we're 914 owners. LOL
Glad your gonna make it Elliot
Are we going to drive to Woody Creek anyway ? I have friends there and would like to have them visit us and take pics
I didn't want to post this while I still had a sliver of hope. All hope is now lost.
I will not be able to attend the RRC this year.
My new job starts the day after Labor Day. They are Not OK with me working 1 week and then taking a weeks vacation.
I will wait until the first of Sept before I cancel my hotel reservation. Please let me know if anybody needs a room.
Sorry to hear your not gonna make it JP,,, will burn one in your honor.
Hey Folks, Ron D. is going to lead a drive on Friday and another on Saturday if you'd like to join. I've also added this information along with the PCA info to the first thread.
Friday morning Glenwood to McClure Pass - we’ll be driving beside the Crystal River and pass by Carbondale, Redstone and Marble on the way up.
Saturday morning Glenwood to Ruedi Reservoir – We’ll pass through Basalt and follow along the famous Frying Pan River.
From the end of the drives, you’re on your own to continue on, hike, fish, or head on down to plenty of restaurants options in the towns mentioned. Ron is thinking he'll do a hike in Marble Friday and head up to Snowmass for the car show Saturday afternoon.

My car definitely isn't going to be ready. If I fly into Denver. Anyone have an open seat? Also anyone want to share a room? I should probably just not make the trip. I could use a break though. Shoot me a PM if you've got a seat or a bed
Attention guitar players.... I'm bringing 2 guitars, acoustic, and a strat also bringing my blackstar setup.
Countdown = 14 days
PCA guy asked me to let you know registration for the PCA event is closing soon. Let me know if you're interested and I'll point you toward the website. It's also posted in the 1st post in this thread.
And only 11 more days!
When are folks headed out to RRC? I want to make sure the live photo link is active.
A long trip for an old bastid. I'm thinking maybe Tuesday.
I'm leaving Wednesday for Durango
Leaving Thursday morning. Caravaning from PMB.
Leaving Thursday morning from ABQ. Car's all fixed, and flat towing it in air conditioned comfort.
I just inventoried my tools and spare parts for the trip. The hardest part for me has always been crossing the Mojave. Booooring!! The plan is to make it to St. George Utah the first day. Yeah, right.
Can't make it this year
Hope everyone has a great time.
Eric told me he wanted to leave around 9 am. Wants to make it to Ray's for lunch.
Pieper and Diane will be joining the event Friday night. Sorry for the late notice. Happy to join everyone.
Pieper
I'm getting itchy............
Looks like colder weather will be moving in on us.
You all have have a nice and safe event, and make sure to post lots of pictures.
Oscar
Perhaps I should bring the car with the best heater?!
My wipers would do a sloth proud. My heater is nonexistent. Rain tray is also MIA, so looks like we're covering things up manually.
FYI Thursday afternoon I plan on visiting a friend in Woody Creek. If anyone would like to join in we plan to meet up at the Woody Creek Tavern. Probably for an hour, then drive back.
I'll have a rental car for the ride
From their web page:
"At the Woody Creek Tavern the Mexican food is the best in the valley-the tamales have attained near-mythic status-and the strong, blue agave margaritas are the best in the Aspen area.
Neither credit cards nor reservations are accepted."
Rain? Cold?
Are we looking at thundershowers thurs/fri ?

Hey - anyone planning or interested in doing a hike over the weekend? Thinking a 5-miler/~2 hour easy-ish hike but could extend or reduce to suit whoever wants to go. LMK. Thanks
If you get cold warm up in the HUGE geo thermally heated public swimming pool. We stayed in GHS on a trip to nebraska. Don't forget to bring your beach attire.
......a week later.
Hi Sharon - is the event auto loader running yet?
Ready for hook up and launch! Hopefully on the road by 6am!

had to get rested up before getting on the road but we're just now leaving Portland headed for Red Rocks see you soon
Attached thumbnail(s)
I'm in St George Utah. Half way there. See you all tomorrow.
Have fun and be safe guy's!!! Hope to make it next year

Supposed to be wet in GS tonight...
Caravan leaving PMB at 9:00am. Heading to Ray's in Green River, UT for lunch. It would be great o hook up with any CA teeners heading East there (Elliot if you leave around 8:00?) and head in. We should get to Ray's around noon.
Caravan currently consists of two men driving 914's, three pussy's driving trailers and one NorEaster in some whacked out rental car (with air conditioning, real heat, wipers that work and cruise control... aka; another pussy).
Checked in around 1 and drove up to Woody Creek for lunch; cool and cloudy. Was raining
Traffic flow west on 82 is badddddddd
Checked in about half hour ago. So far, the nicest 914 in the parking lot. A total of 1031 miles in two days. I might take an extra day going home.
The gang is all (almost) here. The rain stopped. For now...
Got home Sunday night after 12-hour drive. Another great event in the books.
BIG THANKS to
Sharon and Gint for organizing the event
Ron & Linda for guiding the drives
PMB & 914Rubber for swag & support
Jim Stratplayer for the Bad Ass (literally) coffee & Irish cream and T-shirt
Mike & Mary for Durango hospitality
And all attendees for helping make these adventures so much fun
See you at Route 66 - 2018
I had a great time, glad to see you folks again. I always enjoy the RRC, thanks Sharon and Gint for all you do for the RRC.
Elliot, learn to respect your elders.
I just got home from the RRC. I took an extra day getting home. 1000 miles in two days is just a bit much for my old behind. 35 miles west of Glenwood Springs, the car just died. Nothing. The tach. went to zero and it just stopped running. Great!! As soon as I lifted the engine lid I could see the problem. A spade connector came loose from the dizzy. I crimped it tighter started up and was trouble free the next 1000 miles. The long drive was truly worth it. The scenery in Nevada, Utah and Colorado is just spectacular. Thanks to Sharon and whatshisname for another great RRC. Elliot, learn to respect your elders. StratPlayer, try to keep up with us youngsters. And thanks for the coffee. It kept me alert that morning.

Very cool event, it was nice to meet and talk with so many people who are passionate about these cars.
Thank you to all of the organizers.
This is a picture of the group before heading on the first drive.

Looked like a great event! Bummed I couldn't make it this year. Hopefully will see you all again at the Rt 66 this spring!
