914World.com _ 914World Garage _ What Distributor do I have here?

Posted by: Beebo Kanelle Sep 12 2017, 10:18 AM

I have what is supposed to be a bone stock 2.0 with a GA case...

Setting the timing has been driving me nuts, so I pull the distributor.

The numbers are as follows:

0 231 174 009

039 905 205

and I vacuum tested the diaphragm advance / retard only to find there's no advance, no retard!

Is anybody familiar with this distributor? is it a bus distributor?

Anybody tried the 123ignition distributor?

any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

This might be helpful.

Should be 1973 Type 4 for 914.

I have the 123 running on mine with the electronic trigger points. It works very well.

Will be converting to controlling ignition with the Microsquirt soon because I can. they also have a programmable version of the dizzy which I would thin would be the way to go. You can set your timing by Bluetooth.

Did you test the vacuum with the unit on or off the distributor?

This is the distributor from my stock 1973 2.0L, same numbers as yours. I've put a Petronix unit in it, and it has never been a problem for me

Thanks to all.

I tested the vacuum canister both on and off the distributor. nada.

big leak.

It looks like I'm gonna go megasquirt.

I'll take the D-jet and put it on the shelf... for if and when.
