Never seen anything like it. Not stock. Not a weltmiester. Not a Rennshift. What is it?

Interesting. I wonder if someone just did some threading and tapping?
Looks stock otherwise.

agree.gif those knobs were all stock slip fit with an Allen set screw.

Early 911 or late 356 shifter swapped out?

Posted by: jd74914 Sep 18 2017, 05:18 PM

Looks like someone ran a die over a stock shifter to me since the threads don't appear full height.

Stock shaft that has been threaded, and the knob threaded. Likely because the allen bolts stripped and fail to keep the knob secure.

I used to have one of those on a late 80s early 90s AX car build. Thought it was cool as it was a larger shift knob. Logo was neat too. Sorry not to know more.

Top one is an Ampco (sp?) aftermarket knob. Commonly available. Might even still be available...

Quick google search shows the spelling is Amco. Here's a couple image grabs...

You could even get them with St. Christopher's medals on them! av-943.gif
