914World.com _ 914World Garage _ GB steering shaft bearing $26 reg $38 others sell for $106!

Posted by: Mikey914 Oct 9 2017, 05:27 PM

These are the steering shaft bearings that also cross over to 911. We have actually been able to improve on the design some and these make a very nice fit. You can buy them on this GB when we are ready to ship (end of the week or so).

In purchasing this you also have the option to include the puck (

901.347.201.02, for $22

Hardware (including new washers - the ones that bend up as shown) for $8 more
2 elliptical washers ( 901.347.248.00) with 4 bolts as shown.

We are also working on the rubber that holds the bearing 901.347.223.03 that is NLA for $10.

You will only be able to get the special pricing on the add-ons if you buy the bearing at a greatly reduced price.

So.... Whos in?

I'm in for that! Lot of work but I'm tired of shaky wobbly steering.

I’m in for a couple. Thanks!

We are also adding some more racks back into inventory in the next week as we have gotten more parts back from plating. So we may be able to do the one stop shopping to swap it all out - for at least a few of ya. biggrin.gif

? What's involved to do this bearing replacement ?

Posted by: nditiz1 Oct 10 2017, 08:08 AM

Does this fix the metal scraping sound I hear when I turn my steering wheel sometimes?

Possibly? I'd take a good look. This actually holds the short link to the steering rack. That's how I found it. This bearing is pinched inside the rubber housing to allow for some limited movement but I'm guessing that these have never been changed. Not many know they exist. We did make some improvements to the bearing that will help it to outlast you and I. We even plated it in zinc instead of being raw metal. There wasn't a lot of corrosion on the one I had but you know me, and my OCD!

For the picture the bearing is #26
the other parts circled are ones that are also included in the Group buy.

If we choose to include the rubber that holds the bearing, do you just ship the whole group when everything is ready?

Posted by: simonjb Oct 13 2017, 09:17 PM

I am in for two sets - this will also fit a 1972 911T right?

And I’m ready for the the whole set. How do I place an order?

Posted by: Mikey914 Oct 13 2017, 09:38 PM

Bearings are actually done right now. We are just finishing up the rubber that houses the bearings and should have that ready within about 10 days. We also have a couple other items that are coming online to that of course you could consolidate with if you want.

Posted by: jmitro Oct 13 2017, 09:43 PM

perfect timing; I'm in for the bearing and bushing to go on the rack you just rebuilt for me biggrin.gif

Posted by: Mikey914 Oct 13 2017, 10:35 PM

We will also clean up some of the shafts too, to make it all pretty (for those that like nice clean car parts. Will have them as an option, but in limited quantity.

Why not: need some instruction though....

Posted by: db9146 Oct 16 2017, 09:47 AM

I've got the factory bearing in my parts stash and your rubber coupler but I'll need the rest of the hardware (minus the shaft) to refresh it all so I guess I'll be ordering the piece parts.

Went out and yanked this off my shaft. All wrapped up in rubber like that, I can't imagine this thing ever wears out. Mine is gummed up a little from the old rubber but has no play in it. Seems like the real gem of this set is not PN 26, but PN 22 and 30. Sign me up!

Base on your initial post, $22 for the bearing, $10 for the rubber bushing, $8 for the hardware comes to $40... PN 22 is circled in the diagram but not sure where it fits in the price scheme?

Posted by: mepstein Nov 15 2017, 09:19 PM

I just ordered a set. thanks!

Sorry had to borrow the drawing that has the puck highlighted. It is actually $19. You can add the spacers for the puck with new bolts and the special washers for puck hardware for $8 - 4 bolts, 4 spacers, and 2 elliptical washers.
The rubber is still getting finished so Im going to keep this one open til the 20th.
I'll hit you with the codes.
Mark
