914World.com _ 914World Garage _ What was Root working on this weekend?

Posted by: Root_Werks May 22 2005, 09:09 PM

This is the 228RWhp 914-6 I work on only a few times a year. Nice car, it has all the goodies most of us dream of. Those are 17's in the back and 16's in the front. He is getting 17's for the front.

Those are 275's in the rear. Trans cooler, front oil cooler, BIG Brakes blah, blah. Roll cage, GT stiff kit and some other tube braces that attatch to the sups ears. VERY tight car. You take a jack to any corner and the whole car picks up. It's that stiff. ohmy.gif FYI it's a 70 914-6 (original).

Still have one tail dragger that I finished up just today. The 914-6 was getting a rebuilt pedal cluster, change of fluids, tech inspect ect. Here is a shot of Sklines old 914 still in the process of being "Rootized". happy11.gif

Looks like the one shot of Scott's old 914 didn't make it up. Here is a couple showing the front and rear lids, oh engine lid too. Michelle and I sanded the bottom sides and painted them. First paint to go on the latest Root six conversion.

Sort of hard to make out the color, but it is a Porsche stone grey from the late 80's. Really nice understated color I think. I am still waiting on the flares from AA. Engine was picked up today and I didn't have time to pick up the 2.7 that will soon power this little 914. happy11.gif

sad.gif Sorry Dave, I had to take the first person who PM'd about it. Brian was a very nice guy. The 2.0 will replace the 1.8 in his 74 914.

What are the 17 inch rears? Look like Fuchs. Are they Fuchs centers bolted to two piece rims?

laugh.gif Yeah I am small potatos to the city.

Yep, this guy has 3 piece rims all around, the 16 and 17 inchers. The ones were they take the center out of a 16 inch rim and make whatever you want from it. I come home each day and drooley.gif over this 914.

What width rims does he have? Oh, and are those flares factory size, or have they been massaged a bit? Hard to tell on a black car from the photo. Looks awesome though.

When I look under the fenders, you can see a 1 inch strip of metal added to the flares. So I am guessing they are factory flares widened about an inch or so.

Not sure on the rim width, they are wide though! He is brining his 17's for the front for a test fit probably today. There is a good chance I will get to drive this car in tomorrows PNWR DE Event! boldblue.gif

I figured this would be a good thread to update. This 914-6 got "bumped" at a track event a few weeks ago. I took it to a body shop on Monday. Got a perfect rear chrome bumper from CAMP914 and new rubber top from GPR. I'll sqaure away the tail pipe/muffler when I get the car back. Sucks, but it's getting fixed right.

I see you have a Skline special too. I used to have one, but Jeff took it off my hands. I only had took a $5,500 loss on it headbang.gif

We moved, so no more big garage, but we're accross the street from a lake, so a trade off worth it.

Gosh dang I love this weather this weekend. Gonna go drive now, later. biggrin.gif driving.gif

Sweet, wish I would have swung by. Went to a car show today and was a little disappointed with what was there. Too much old American and no neat Euro stuff... well, very little. There was a cool 914-6 biggrin.gif but my buddy brought a 2001 Diablo that really made my car look silly next to it sad.gif
