914World.com _ 914World Garage _ How do you tighten or remove the glove box lock?

Posted by: andreic Oct 18 2017, 12:00 PM

The whole unit that locks the glove compartment on my 1975 914 is loose and rattles. I need to tighten it in place. I have some access to it, but can't for the life of me figure out how it should be held in place (or removed). For what it's worth I no longer have the key to open or close that latch.

Thanks.

What usually comes loose is the nut holding the lock in place.
See it in the previous post on the back of the lock.
Push the lock into the dash and reach in the glove box behind the lock tighten the nut by hand, takes another 40 years to come loose again.
