914World.com _ 914World Garage _ sound track for first run

Posted by: worn Nov 8 2017, 11:52 AM

After the long pull of restoration you got the engine warm and it is time for the first test drive. So what is on the radio?

For me it is "Green Onions" by Booker T and his Memphis Group. I figure that is due to watching a George Lucas film. Perfect for pulling an elderly car out of the garage though.

First tune testing the radio is "Box of Rain".

I know I am off kilter, but am I alone?

I prefer Franklin Lang’s yodeling songs! Seems correct for a German car, but obviously drives my wife crazy.

No radio, got to listen for car parts falling off or tools that mistakenly laid down and forgot to pick up.

I have been thinking about this song for the first adventurous drive when I get done with my GT clone. piratenanner.gif
It has everything, a vintage car in a barn, a police chase, and drinking. drunk.gif
Perfect.

Who: Baba O'Riley

Skynyrd: Call Me The Breeze

These are favorites of mine from my youth. When I got my first decent car stereo (Craig PowerPlay cassette) the first cassette I bought was "Who's Next" and that same day I went to a friends house and taped "Second Helping" off the LP. Who remembers pre-historic "ripping"??

Oh man, what an intro! And then the rest. That is the one that I play when I want to get out of my lethargy and grab a wrench, welder, or spray gun.

This went dormant and fell off the charts and now we have so many winners piratenanner.gif

As they say, You may already be a Weiner.

Pink Floyd - Shine on you Crazy Diamond, from Wish You Were Here.
Stolen from Bob Naville in one of the Oktoberfest prep video's.

A Timeless Classic, I play it everytime I drive the Tail of the Dragon.

Most anything from Steely Dan. Or Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Aaaah hell, I ain't started my car since mid October. Anything that sounds like a running engine is gonna work for me...

If it's a little longer of a ride, there's always this good old tune from back in 1974
