Dear All,
Took my car out for drive post clutch replacement (due to seized throwout bearing) and car shifted great (thanks again John!).
But during short drive noted that turn signals don't "blink" - they illuminate and the indicators light up on the speedometer - but not clicking sound and not blinking? Would this be a relay issue? Or a ground issue? Checked on fuses and they looked good, loosened them and repositioned in case I had some resistance from corrosion, no changed. Any advice appreciated.
Best,
Reg
It’s your relay.
If it’s not like the diagram, just remove relays from the board under the dash one at a time until signals go off, Bingo!
Just went through this myself on a 74 2L. My fuse/relay board is the same as troth previous post. Bought new relay, my blinkers worked outside the car but no dash indicator, from the local FLAPS. 22 big ones and I had a dash blinker. The original flasher had 2 internal circuits one for the dash blinker and the other for the lights outside of the car. My dash circuit failed sounds like your external light circuit failed. The new relay has only one circuit, better in my mind.
When my blinkers were acting up it was two issues. First there was a bit of corrosion on one lamp, easy fix. Then I also had to change the relay. Found the relay by turning on the emergency flashers and listening for the clicking sound. The relay was tucked up under the steering column. It looked brand new. Changed it out with a different brand and all is working okay now.
easy fix...
