I've got an 009 dizzy and want to know if the trigger points are compatible with a stock '75 2.0 dizzy.

They will fit the stock distributor for both the 1.7 and 2.0 distributors.

What "009" distributor do you have? There is one that is from a 1.8 liter, and it doesn't have FI trigger points. There is one that is completely aftermarket, and it also doesn't have FI trigger points.

If you have a D-jet distributor (1.7 or 2.0) the trigger points are the same. Also for the D-jet VWs, I believe, and possibly other D-jet cars.

My 009 is a Bosch unit I got years ago with a '72 parts car. It has trigger points that appear to be in good working condition. Sounds like they are compatible with all D-jet FI.

As far as I can tell, it’s a binary switch that goes off at 180 degrees

Don't use used points unless your stranded.

Get some "002" points, put them along side the points you remove or the points in the 009 dizzy. You'll see why they are better.

Not all DJet trigger points are the same. Benz DJet cars use trigger points that are different than those for 914s and VDubs.

If you're going there Marc, your title says FI Trigger points and 009 dizzy's don't have FI trigger points so

If you are talking spark points, ditch the 011 and get a 002 set used on early 911's with CD boxes. They are heavier springs and larger contact area. They can take a pounding and should drop right into any dizzy that uses the 011 points.

If you need FI trigger points, good luck.

Now I'm confused, Dan. I've got a Bosch dizzy: PN#0 231 174 009 that definitely has FI trigger points. What the hell is it?

Brad Anders page says that 0231174009 is the Bosch PN, for 039905205 Porsche PN which is the 1973 2.0L dizzy. Its D-Jet.

Interesting. This dizzy also has the 039905205 number with a VW logo in front of it.

Still no 914, but have my 76's standard FI bug. Mostly fly these days, no time or money for cars anymore. Airplanes are more fun.

Some day, I'd like to get another 914.

Hate to do this to you Marc....As previously noted, the 009 is the common ID for a centrifical advance dist used on carbed cars. That you later added the complete number after the fact eases the confusion. At least on my end. Amazing that the COMPLETE numbers is identical to one in Jeff's post.
