914World.com _ 914World Garage _ GB - roll bar pad $175 - includes the screw covers too!(others charge $5 each for 13!)

Posted by: Mikey914 Nov 21 2017, 10:21 AM

Many of you know I've been working on this for some time however recent events have forced me to speed this up a little. These are in process and we are still at least 6 weeks out. your chance to replace that cracked roll bar pad.

On the radar. there are 2 versions, probably would do the late 1st. I do have samples of both.

Very easy to recover. Hate to say it but you can also recover an existing one with some sanding and filling of the cracks. Not that I wouldn't mind selling you one. biggrin.gif

This is the main top piece. Most of the sides are in decent shape, but we could do those too.

I’d be thrilled if you would reproduce the sides. In fact, all of the pieces, including dash cap and lower dash, plus front sides. Restoring an early car.

Posted by: CMONNETT Nov 21 2017, 08:16 PM

I'd be in for one, maybe two.

Posted by: mepstein Nov 21 2017, 08:27 PM

It’s pretty easy to find the A & B pillar pads in good shape. Almost all the targa pads that Mark is reproducing either have a crack at the screw holes, wear on the corners or both.

Yes Rob,
You are the one that has been actually the driving force on this. The tool itself is about 50% done there are some technical issues we are addressing, but we will be able to make these relatively inexpensively, and here in the US.

I’m happy to wait for when this part is ready. I just sent in spring tuition for both my college kids so it’s not like I’m flush with cash at the moment. 914rubber never disappoints. beerchug.gif

100% committed for 1 as I'm sure your "texture" will be as good as OEM.
The dash you did was amazing- looking at the other companies pics of their roll bar pad I'm not convinced of the OEM look you seem to nail.

Cliff notes: I'm in, worth waiting for an exact oem finish. biggrin.gif

Thanks Mark!

Seriously, very excited these are on the horizon. Mark and Matt could practically write a book about the obstacles they’ve had to leap to produce this part. It even involves a factory fire! blink.gif
I’m sure you’ll be very glad to put these on the shelf and equally sure they’ll exceed expectations as usual.

Mark,

The way you're supporting this community is phenomenal!

If you posted an April Fool's listing for a Body in White, I'd probably have my credit card number entered before I noticed the date! (and I'd probably still hit "Send" just to be sure!!)

I even checked the website last night at midnight to see if you'd started the Black Friday sale 24 hours early. smile.gif

Posted by: 75914-L20C Nov 25 2017, 09:46 AM

Thanks Mark! Put me down for one.

Any plans to do the pad at the front under/inside of the targa top?

Posted by: Mikey914 Nov 29 2017, 04:40 PM

Yes it is year specific. so will do what does the greatest good 1st,

First, I intend to do the one at the top of the windshield 1st as it always gets damaged when the urethane is used in the windshield install.

I assume this pad will use aluminum or stainless instead of steel inside, like other stuff you make? smile.gif

Posted by: Mikey914 Jan 6 2018, 10:11 AM

Planning stainless. I'm actually working on them this next week. Could go aluminum, but depends on how well the material bonds on the bottom lip. Even the stock have delaminated on some I've seen. We are planning to perforate it to help. But have to test.
