914World.com _ 914World Garage _ -6 cdi testing and diy rebuild?

Posted by: mb911 Nov 24 2017, 05:05 PM

I have a -6 3 pin cdi I would like to test and rebuild myself if Possible. Anyone ever do one? I know I can send it out for service but if I can do it myself that would be even better. Any help would be appreciated..

I emailed a link to a complete writeup on the testing procedure from Warren Hall’s Pelican Parts post back in the day. It doesn't look like an easy procedure other than hooking up 12 volts to listen for a hum from the CDI.
