the one i send a link is 400 but comes with a wiring harness for the whole car!

Very nice! These are like what I have which are from a lexus gs 400.
if anyone has hids in there 914 post pics
oh yeah i was the blog
i wasnt asking if hids are good for a 914 i was asking if "these" hids were good in a 914 plus these come with there own "wiring harness"
only 2 replys out of 50 views?
so if i did use a upgraded wiring harness would there be a chance that i might overpower or burn up the switch?
the problem is not really the wiring , you can always make something,, the issue here is how are the cops in your area,, because if they are so uptight like here i got stop with my 2000 S4 who has the HID as OEM and they stop me and asked me questions,, are those original,, can i see under the hood,, bla bla bla,, i told him" " you are really busy tonight "" he said he has been instructed to check for those because now every ricer have them and as you know they are illegal unless OEM,, so it is up to you,,,,
cops are pretty cool around here
and a handful of cars have non-oem
but the question is is that if i upgrade the wiring harness would there be a chance i could burn the headlight switch??
i don't understand the logic surrounding putting in these type of lights and jumping through all the hoops with the wiring and relays . ditch the sealed beams and step up to the hellas and/or put in one of craigs fog kits. do you do alot of night time rally driving?
k
i have the 55 dollar hellas with silverstar bulbs
id like to put the hids in the hellas
will your alternator put out enough amps for this? stock has low amps.
Bernie
I dont mind the wiring since im doing a frame\dash up restore
I just want a brighter whiter light the silverstar bulbs are a bright whitish yellow id like the white closer to blue while keeping the brightness
jeanne's very understanding with my parts purchases and NEVER busts my chops. a credit card bill for $400 worth of headlights would change things in a hurry. "what was wrong with the ones you had in the car kevin?". "i have Lexus envy dear".
k
Hids only draw a few amps per lamp continuous. They are 35W lamps at 12V. They draw ~8A for the first 10+ seconds.
If the Silverstar has a yellow cast, I'd check the voltage at the bulb. I would also be inclined to run a new set of wires and relays for the bulbs anyway. That would take the strain off of the switch. Lots of voltage drops in the old cars that can be fixed to some degree. The voltage and hence the current has a lot to do with the color temperature of the bulbs.

I like the idea of the hid systems but its just too expensive at the moment.
