Here’s my unfinished “Route 66 trailer”. This used to be a 2005 26 ft travel trailer that I couldn’t give away. I decided to gut it and use its frame for my 6” X 16’ dovetail open hauler.
I’m adding some unique features while attempting to keep weight down under 1500 lbs.
Elec brakes
Alum wheels
100% LED lighting
Aluminum diamond plate platform
Aluminum diamond plate fenders (removable)
4,000 remote power winch
On board ultra light 12VDC power
12V Jump posts
On board air compressor w/ 9 Gal tank (below deck)
On board 10 gal water tank w/ 25 ft hose (below deck)
And YES…wireless back-up camera
All in white w polished deck.
Stay tune for more pics…..
You have all the cool stuff.
Crap - Now I'm looking on craigslist

Neat trailer.
I miss my car trailer, would have kept it if I had a better spot than my driveway to park it.
How about the one we saw down at Jim/Lucky 914-6's house?
That was pretty state of the art.
What if your 914 pick up has a custom trailer to pull your 914....
ie.
OK, now picture 2 914s instead...
Nice trailer Oscar.
I had the perfect 14x7 single axle tilt bed trailer. I wasn't using it much & added it to a trade I made. One of the worst decisions of my life. It was the perfect trailer for a 914. Wouldn't scrape loading & sat just in front of the wheel when loaded right. So opening the door was no problem. I've been trying to find it for years with no luck
That’s going to be a Sweet Hauler when finished! It will be well worthy of supprting your P-Car transport needs.
Quick 2/9 update...going slow.
- Paint DONE
- Aluminum Ramps DONE
- Water tank Done ( on floor...still need to paint before install )
- Alum fenders done...mocking up in process
- LED lighting install ( in process )
Yikes...I need to hurry
Oscar
Only that I can be rinse off a car after a long haul without having to look for a water somewhere. I'm installing an RV water pump.
Wow! Very nice work.
Damn Oscar. That might be too nice to park at my house during the event!
I agree you better chain it up Oscar.
Stunning !
Wow Oscar very nice.
I wanted to get a trailer for the R66 this year but am busy building another motor for the car so I probably won't be driving it.
Looks like we'll take Susan's Z car.
Look forward to seeing you trailer.....nice job!
Amazing work Oscar
Great Progress my friend! My car is going to look awesome on it riding back from the body shop!
Nice job!
I expected to see the car-b-que from another post...
I'm jealous!
Crazy trailer skills, Oscar. Epoxy paint? Did you incorporate a locking system for those ramps? Someone stole "1" of Jim's at a Rt66 2 yr's back.

I have totally somehow missed this thread entirely until now.
That is a great trailer Oscar! Really well thought out and I like the water idea I can see that coming in handy.
Great job!
if you plate the whole deck wont it be heavy? neat project, will be cool to see it all come together
Update with 2 days left.
I am behind schedule however it will be ready by Thursday. I plan on doing a local test run tomorrow with my car loaded. Wish me luck!!!
Very, very nice, Oscar.
Looks fantastic.
Wow that is slick! Nice job.
Looks great! What superwinch model are you using?
Looks great. Enjoy the trip out to Route 66. I’ll be watching the photos thread from the weekend.
Nice!! I'll be right over to load my car. Hope you don't mind 80's music for the drive up.
Fantastic , best open trailer i’ve ever seen.
Fantastic job Oscar, looking forward to seeing it. I can't help adding however that IMHO these cars should be driven, not towed or trailered.
Look fantastic! Grab some shrink wrap from work and wrap it around the front of your car to keep from getting rock chips, wish I was going have fun!
