914World.com _ 914World Garage _ German Auto Parts in SoCal build a good engine?

Posted by: Tdskip Jan 2 2018, 05:50 PM

Newbie question here, apologies if I am the only one that does not know these folks, but given that an engine seems like a kind of important part of a car I wanted to ask.

I am looking at a car that has a rebuilt engine by this shop and was hoping for some feedback on if they are a known and trusted go-to.

Thanks!

They are an awesome little shop! I've been going there since I was a teenager. Ed is an awesome engine builder and super reasonable in price! I have friends that have also had engines rebuilt by them from the 90's that are still running strong today.

hmmmm....are or were they out in the Ontario area around 2000? I think my long block is by them....have to go through the receipts that came with the car.

If so it's quite a torquey beast...

No, they have been at this location from day one I believe. I've been buying parts from them since the 80's

I think Nachos experience tells miles on them. I would trust their work.

Thanks Bob

They are the type of shop that is willing to trouble shoot issues with you without forcing you to buy anything! that type of service doesn't exist anymore.

I lived on a 220 Acre lake near these guys in the 90s

I had a 81 911SC Targa. A great car but it was cal trans orange with a factory tail
Paint was perfect. A perfect car. I got a used car lease on it from the Bank of Riverside.
Great lease. Sold the car when I wanted and got taken out of the lease

I don't know anything about GAP, but my long time Austrian born & factory trained on the 914 in 1969 mechanic exclusively uses Tuttle's in LA area.

I vote with my guy Hans, since my 73 was rebuilt by them in 1983, & my 88 Vanagon WBX was replaced by them in `99 (rod through top of case ended the original motor), & both had/have several years & many miles on them.

That's my 2 cents!

Cheers! beerchug.gif
