914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 914's in Turkey

Posted by: Headrage May 30 2005, 04:32 PM

My wife just got notified that one of the BIG 3 television stations want's to offer her a job. If the terms are right (don't worry I used to live there) she may accept the job. If she does it means I'll ship the teener there. Question is, can I get parts??? If so, and the car is running, can I organize the 2007 WCC on the west coast of the Aegean sea????

Thanks Andy, I need the re-inforcement...

The bodywork and rust issues are easy there but I am concerned about the knowledge of the T-4. Hell I'll go to the factory if I have to. Hey, Maybe we will have a source for factory direct parts (Like they still make them)???

If you move to Turkey, I'll come visit ya. Its on my list of place to go see!
Greece was awesome last year now to go visit the other side.

Serbia and Italy are before Turkey on my list so make sure your place is near the sea.
When I am in Amsterdam, I live on the Turkish bread. You know, that big round thick pizza like kind

Let me tell you something, if you come to Istanbul, you will get the best outing you have ever had.... Even if I don't go, I can set you up with the time of your life... Free rooming if you like...

I loved Istanbul. I did not get to visit for very long but it sure was fun running back and forth across that bridge. I'm in Europe.........I'm in Asia......I'm in Europe...I'm in Asia...

Big smiles from all the people and the architecture is awesome.

I know, it's like, I work in Asia and live in Europe. Weird... wink.gif

I have never been to Turkey. I'd love to go there some day....maybe when the girls get older.

If you go we will have to have a farwell BBQ!

Posted by: Headrage May 30 2005, 07:25 PM

If I go, I will hope that we will have at least a BBQ.......

914's in Turkey, Is it possible????

I don't know dood. A 914 is a small car, but it would still have to be a REALLY big turkey. confused24.gif

Allan...simple: just put a little Greece on that 914 and she'll slip right into that Turkey wink.gif .
On the other hand, In my mid-east travels I noticed that most of the VW dealerships had parts depts. that could order VW Audi and Porsche parts. But we're talking about a 30 year old car now.

Go for it!!

I really love Turkey...been there 3 times....I was in Ankara....great time...

Posted by: AndyC May 31 2005, 06:23 AM

Parts should be very easy to get hold of if Turkey successfully joins the EU, even if they don't if I can get parts shipped from the States to the UK - Germany to Turkey will be no problem
Just remember www.mittelmotor.de
And think what a road trip it would be to visit Jeroen up though the alps quick stop off at Stuttgart, maybe a slight diversion off to Le Mans.............. driving.gif

Istanbul was constantinople
Now it’s istanbul, not constantinople
Been a long time gone, constantinople
Now it’s turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in constantinople
Lives in istanbul, not constantinople
So if you’ve a date in constantinople
She’ll be waiting in istanbul

Even old new york was once new amsterdam
Why they changed it I can’t say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to constantinople
No, you can’t go back to constantinople
Been a long time gone, constantinople
Why did constantinople get the works?
That’s nobody’s business but the turks

Istanbul (istanbul)
