Just doing some planning on the shifter set up.
I have a side shifter already.
Installing a Seine shifter on the 911 was one of the best things I ever did.
Tangerine's shifter set up appears to be the gold standard.
Would the best plan of attack be to go with the Tangerine set up and then see how I like it before popping for the Seine shifter?
Does the Tangerine kit usually make a Seine set up unncessary?

Im pretty sure the Seine kit is just for a 915 shifter. If thats the case, consider the Jwest Rennshifter to go with the tangerine linkage.

The Tangerine kit makes your gear selection more precise fro the fire wall back...I would recommend it regardless of shifter you choose....I tried a gated shifter on a 915 box during practice for the daytona 24...I kind of liked it...my co drivers hated it.
my concern for installing one on the 901 is that I have always heard that relative to the modern transmissions , they are mechanically slow , and the quickness on a short shifter will exascerbate wear...I can highly recommend the renn shift ...perhaps it would alliviate the need for a Seine in your case...

I believe Seine does have an option for the 901, although I've never installed/driven one that has it. I just really like their kit on my other car, so I put them on the shortlist of options. I don't believe their kit falls under a short shifter category, I think it's probably more accurate to consider it a gated shifter as has been suggested. Thank you for the heads up on the short shifter kits probably not being the way to go, I did come across that via searching past discussions here.
I know some of this, as has also been suggested, is down to personal opinion but does the tangerine kit clean things up to a point where most people are happy with the standard shifter?

My experience: With a side shift tranny, along with the Tangerine linkage system and a good stock shifter, it was satisfactory but difficult to adjust perfectly. Just added a new RennShifter - was easy to install/adjust, now have a precision feel with a nice "gate like" improvement - worth the cost.

I have a Seine in my 911 and it is fantastic. Contacted them for one for my 901 side shift 6 teener and they replied they haven’t cracked that nut yet. Got a Rennshifter instead and it is fantastic. If set up right, you won’t be disappointed. Would recommend a brass bushing for the firewall. It may work for a 4. I know they work well in 901 911s.

The Seine web site shows a 901 option ,also says the 915 one it has a 30% shorter throw

Zero question in my mind, the best setup is a Rennshifter in your hand and Tangerine the rest of the way to the tranny. That's where I'm going after I get the synchros... or the box gone through by the good evil Dr.
I'm so tired of the stir stick and grinding and downshifting into 3rd before first to fudge synchros, can't get into first cleanly, yada yada. Every 914 I've ever had (only 5) has been plagued with this. Ironically my one tailshifter was the best of the bunch, because it wasn't bagged out with wear.
Clearly the tranny wasn't engineered for longevity. But remember, fix it right, improve it along the way, and enjoy it for 30+ years.

Yep, I through away a lot of money. Made a lot of people happy with my second hand mistakes.
The Martin Bott 915/916 kit requires a very precise shifting linkage. The rennshift left to right has a shorter throw than the others do, which made up for my sloppy linkage. I finally figured out the linkage, so the other shifters probably would of worked. I still think the rennshift is the best. The Seine kit and the wevo are based off of the 915 shifter. Pro and con, but i like the rennshift best.

Everything I have ever bought from Tangerine has been top notch with equally great support. Their rear firewall bushing produced a magical transformation for my shifter.
