no known history of previous rebuild.
i have some records from previous owners but no documented work on the motor.
Since im very curious about circa 70s maintenance intervals
How often should you throw your jugs away and replace
Every 100k miles?
I know this is not popular here or cost effective
But isn't this engine more power egg type design
As in swap out the whole engine and go opposed to fix 1 thing at a time?
Slippery slope. Pandora's box. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Pick your favorite saying.
You could just clean it up as good as possible, put it back into service and inspect again in the future.
Unless you are itching to spend a couple grand, just clean up the grime and run it. It wont save you any money tearing it down now vs later.
thats kind of what i figured. i dont think its major leak ir anything like that. i just wanted tk make sure. i dont want to dive in that deep now, maybe in a few years but i really wnat to just clean it up, install the new tin, runners, trottle body, plenum, seals etc etc- all newly powder coated heat parts coming from Bruce Stone! just cleaning and degreasing so that the motor will look as nice as the newly painted body! i think i probably have 2 months before paint gets done so i have some time to clean and reassemble. it is turning into " while i am at it" syndrome!
Mark, hopefully you and i both get our cars done for the next Okteenerfest!
