914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Raleigh NC Looking for a repair shop Djet specialist

Posted by: rfinegan Jan 19 2018, 09:13 AM

I need to find a shop that can work and repair a 2.0 Djet.. I recently installed the system back on my 75 914 2.0l It had weber a carb conversion . It runs well at High way speeds but at idle and off idle it has a stumble /miss. At idle it is sometimes good but often gets rough and surges

Cold start is fine for the first 30 sec to a min then it will start stumbling and missing off idle. IT runs better when warmer and seems to idle best once coming off a hi way cruise

vacuum leak suspected, or lean running, could be bad MPS developing too.

Also would suspect TPS sensor board of there are no vacuum leaks and the MPS is good.

If you can make the 3 hour drive, I'd take it to Black Forest Racing. I've been down there with both of my 914's and they know these cars probably better than any other shop in NC.

There's also Road Scholars in Durham, but they are $$$$$. I've never been been there so I can't say how well they know their stuff. They quoted me $1600 to replace an RMS on my old '75, so I said thanks but no thanks!
