Anyone know a good Audi mechanic in the greater Bay Area that can repair a 2005 Audi S4 4.2L V8 with the dreaded timing chain problem?

Not Bay Area but Ron Kain at IPB Autosport in Sacramento has dealt with the Audi V8 timing chains.

034 Motorsports in Fremont has worked on my S3- but just suspension. However they do full engine work too. All Audis, all the time. Good luck.

2Bennett in Davis, CA (near Sacramento) is a well known Audi repair/tuner house.

On an added note, Ron is a member here and a friend of Brad Roberts. Cool guy and a great shop!

ALL of those plastic ramps are inexpensive, right? That the chain is on the rear of the engine is stunning. Not in a good way. What is the shop rate for this procedure?

I've heard numbers ranging from 2k to 10k depending one what parts need to be replaced.
