This car has been in storage for a very long time... so maybe it's time to get it registered and roadworthy. Clay has been nudging me a little bit, ya see.
So I'll need some license plates. Depending on the plate I select, I can have 6 or 7 letters.
Any ideas? If I pick your idea, I'll send you something cool out of my stash.
Raisin.
And I don't think I want anything that's gotten stuck in your stash
I'll participate if you give me the car...
Eggplant ?
Is that the original color? It’s my favorite! Stunning!

Your a better man then me..... I refuse to pay Californias High Vanity plate fee. We already have the highest License Plate renewal fees in the Nation thinks to our POS Governor.
I had the same idea as others but "GoKart" was already taken. I planned on getting GoKart1 for my other 914 and had GoKart2 for my other car. I also thought about "onrails" but was worried people would think i was into trains (not that there is anything wrong with that). As it is, I did have a person ask me after seeing my plates "are you into go karts?"
If you have to explain your plates, it might be too complex.
PATEENA or PATEENR.
Thats what i'm hoping to use up here in NH if i ever get my car on the road.

So... if I scrounge up an original license plate from 1973, I can use it with my car.
That might be an interesting option. It would limit my driving to sunday runs & car shows & rambles... but that's more than I'm doing right now.
Here's an example of what one might look like:
I'd lose out on the vanity part, but registration is cheap.
Thoughts?
I really like period-correct plates. Great selection of pre-cleared ones on ebay. In NY, all you need is historical designation on your insurance card, a form and something like 30 bucks. I gotta believe alabama is similar. probably easier/cheaper

If it's 7 letters, it's gotta be EGPLANT.

Mass. also has the "year-of-manufacture" plates. I have them on my '64 Ghia.
For your 914.. URBXSTR
"Ur" is German for original - it's common in the Audi crowd where the UrQuattro, UrS4, UrS6 are the first versions.
How about the obvious ..... like your 914world user name .... 'RUSTY' ....
"Moby" (as in "Moby Grape") maybe?
