one post - idiot light
two posts - light and gauge

what year is it off of?

if it happens to be a gauge sender, is it a 5 bar (o-~80 psi) or a 10 bar (140 psi)
it will say on it...

I have never seen an idiot light only sender that big. I would guess it's for a guage. Clean it off and look for part numbers. smile.gif

smilie_pokal.gif Sweet

0-10BAR

#901-741-55101

Now what gauge do I get? Will any 0-10BAR gauge work?

Cheers

that's an E/S sender.

the combo (temp/pressure) instrument is 911.641.106.00

i may have a spare pressure gauge to check the number, but it doesn't seem to have an individual part replacement number in the ETKA, and Pelican doesn't show it by description.

i wouldn't put much hope in compatibility, although ya never know - those senders are a little wonky, using a moveable rheostat. they sometimes get stuck at the bottom or top of the range, or have dead spots...

{edit: checked my 'spare' combo gauge and the VDO pressure-gauge insert does not have an individual number that i can see from the outside. the 'early' senders (like ours) do require a matching gauge - at some point (911SC?) when the pressure takeoff was moved to the pulley end of the engine and the type changed, they also changed the resolution of the gauge because people were being freaked out by low indicated oil pressure - so they doubled the sender output. i recall seeing this mentioned but it'd be a big research project finding it again... my English-language gauges indicate 0->140psi (near 'nuff 10 Bar.). i still haven't been able to find my spare sender - i must have packed it away real carefully into a spares pile...}

Thanks. smilie_pokal.gif

Has anyone ever swapped out the temp in a "Fuel/temp" combo gauge to be "Pressure/fuel"?

Cheers

sounds like you need a 904-style triple-combo gauge :-)

seriously - IIRC - all the little gaugelets are the same size and shape and you can mix and match them to your heart's contant - and ability to keep the wiring runs straight... of course, some gauges like pressure & temp would look weird if you ran them on the other sides (legends inverted...) but they'd work...

works fine running a fuel/oil pressure combo. here is a chart
