914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Houndstooth seats - On sale to end of the month

Posted by: Mikey914 Mar 13 2018, 05:19 PM

Saw the thread on the hounds tooth and said I'd do some up. These are really sharp. Think I may put in my red car.
Have a limited quantity already done up, but we can turn these in less than a week so it will allow backorder. These are a very nice option for the price, and not as hot as the vinyl in the summer too!

The camera on my phone has s difficult time focusing so I'll need to drop into a light booth, and get better pics, but you get the idea.

On sale now here -

Why is it called hound's tooth?

Posted by: napasteve Mar 13 2018, 07:26 PM

Any chance that light blue/black might be available?

I can do a set up for you, but it will be a few weeks, as I will have to get material in for it, but sure.

I believe houndstooth has an origin in Scotland, or somewhere thereabouts. The Germans know it as Pepita - or Pumpkin seed why, maybe Andy would know?

Also added the option for Blue, but we will have to make. Order it now and save.

I'm good for a blue/black set of 2 if you add the item to your website. Thanks.

Posted by: Mikey914 Mar 14 2018, 07:16 PM

On the site now. I'll bring in the blue and start on them as soon as we have our 1st order. Will do up a few for stock.

On your 914Rubber site, you added at picture of the blue/black pattern but it is not one of the colors available in the selection field (still only white, red, yellow).

Orange a possibility?

Posted by: Mikey914 Mar 15 2018, 09:17 AM

Just added orange and blue to the options. Learned that if the stock quantity is 0 it will not display unless I override. I'll be bringing in material end of the week, so if you want these or other colors let me know I can do it all at once. I will also stock these once they are in. Just wasn't really sure what the distribution of these would be so I took a shot in the dark.

Thanks,
mark

Should be all fixed now -

Mark - do you still have replacement foam cushions for sale. Thanks.

Posted by: Mikey914 Mar 15 2018, 08:31 PM

I fixed the link so it goes right to the listing now

https://shop.914rubber.com/914-seat-vinyl-kit-1-seat-Houndstooth-Red-yellow-blue-orange-914seatHT.htm?categoryId=-1

I have them listed as related items at the top.. the seat base bushings and seat adjuster handles are there too.

Let me add, thanks for some reason it was hidden. We also changed the foam to have a softer top section to compress for more comfort.

Still not seeing the replacement foam.

Brown or tan?

Posted by: Mikey914 Mar 17 2018, 08:19 AM

If you want to buy a set I can make them. Want me to put up a listing for you. I can't see stocking them, but if you order I'll make. Not my personal favorite, but wouldn't go well in any of my cars either.

Mark, quick question, can you do black and white centres to suit a pre 71 seat set up ?

Posted by: Mikey914 Mar 21 2018, 10:23 PM

Yes and no.

The drivers yes. the passenger side no. But you mush have a camera in my shop as we just did the drivers and passengers in black and white hounds tooth. they are are a little more expensive in that you will need the "3 piece" back pad, that in your configuration is only 2, and we will need to credit the back bolster that would normally come with the seat. I can post some pics tomorrow.

Posted by: Mikey914 Mar 23 2018, 12:41 PM

The fixed back and bolsters are done. the "back pad" section we are sewing more up.

Mark,
What else is needed to complete a standard seat (‘72-‘76) with this houndstooth cover? I assume the bolster and back pieces? Foam as needed?
Thanks!!

Posted by: Mikey914 Mar 25 2018, 09:41 PM

All the kits assume that you have the sub components below the vinyl. The fixed base, and foam, as well as the backpad foam and fiberboard.

We do sell a foam replacement for the base. If you need a foam section I think we could cut one up, but I’ll have to figure out what we need to charge.
