Looks good to me, I'm in.

Question, do you use the stock 2.0-style Y hanger along with this? (to give it extra support)...I plan on doing that if I can.

Posted by: mepstein Apr 25 2018, 03:41 PM

They look great. Can't wait to get mine. I had sort of rigged up something ugly but now I can make it right.

Will this work with the Dansk Stainless Steel 911 muffler I use on my 914-6 conversion?

If 'yes', then I would like one.

Posted by: Retroracer Apr 25 2018, 04:55 PM

Very cool! Questions:

1) as above, will these work with a Dansk 911 muffler early style, and
2) is it designed with side shift in mind - or tail shift - or both?

If 1=yes and 2=side shift then I'm in for one for my GT-ish build

No idea for the dansk though I would think it would be darn close as 6 inch dia is what the curve is for and the adjustable slots allow it to move up and down

I set them up for a sideshift but seeing as they replace the y muffler hanger and bolt on there should be no issues.

Constant tension clamps from mcmaster car designed to work within the 6" range for the muffler diamter. They come in stainless for about 10 dollars each.

Posted by: mepstein Apr 28 2018, 04:56 PM

Basically bolts right to the end of the trans where the 2 studs extend out where the Y bracket would bolt and then extends to the muffler where 2 band straps go around the bracket tabs and the muffler to support the muffler body just like a 911.

Shipped 8 today.. The folks I had addresses for. Got a couple of folks I am looking for addresses for

Posted by: mepstein Apr 30 2018, 09:32 AM

Not a lot to see but it does work perfectly. Doesn’t interfere with anything.
Took about 20 minutes to install since I had to remove the old bracket and loosen the muffler. Pretty easy, even for me.

Received mine today! Thanks Ben! Nice looking piece!

Posted by: mepstein May 4 2018, 05:04 AM

Only problem I had with the part is that it bolted right on. No fitting, modifying, reworking. Sort of anti climatic. biggrin.gif

Someone asked me if this bracket works with Martin Botts 916 kit.
I finally got around to mounting mine. Perfect fit and looks great. I did have a Mickey Mouse home depot bracket with a 911 bracket jury rigged with the 914-4 2.0 hanger. This looks much better and much quicker to install. Only mods I had to do with my Martin Bott 916 kit, was to install longer studs on the trans. The back up switch required me to space Ben's quiet muffler back 3/8", which also required me to space the GT bracket 3/8" with washers. The previous Triad muffler was a much bigger hassle and required me to space the muffler back 2". The quiet muffler is much quieter, sounds great and no drone!!
