My realtor has a lift in some commercial they want to get rid of. I can have it for free. The lift has a hydraulic problem that would need to be addressed.

I haven't seen one like this....worth having? I would like to have one for my Porsche's

Does it only work with the ramps? That is, it looks more like a 4 post lift in function. Good for a lot of things, but not as good for wheel suspension stuff. I have a free lift that suits my needs, but sometimes wonder if it was worth it. It meant I got a lift, but not the one I would have chosen

I like the idea of a regular two post lift for doing suspension work, dropping engines, etc.

My dilemma is as you stated....is this the lift I would choose? Since it needs work, do I put money in it even though I'm not sure it's what I want/need?

That looks like a big lift.
Between takedown, set up and repair, you might not be far off a new one.

That appears to be an alignment lift. It will have four fold down post to level the rack. Some have adjustable pneumatic lift pad that mount in the center to lift the car.

Alignment lift. Might even have a trolley lift between the ramps.

Looks like it has been modified for the alignment rack - That is a 2 post lift but it appears the original 4 arms are missing -
Are they at the shop?

This looks like complete overkill for a 914 plus you can't work on the suspension at all.

That lift looks REALLY HEAVY.
I would just go with the Greg's Equipment lift, the Atlas
I've had mine for 4 years, works great.

It will be costly and time consuming to move. Maybe that's why they're giving it away.

Moving the lift is probably the biggest expense. If you want a 2 post lift it could be worthwhile as I don't think converting it back from the alighnment rack to a 2 post is tough. If the arms are available they should just bolt on.

A "hydraulic problem" doesn't sound that difficult to fix either.

Thats a big-ass heavy lift
They will need to load it on a trailer.
At your end you will need to make sure the concrete floor is thick enough and it fits under the ceiling.
Then you will need to install the floor bolts. Drill/epoxy?
Then lift it one piece at a time,position and bolt down
Run the Electrical
Install the ramps.
If it is a hydraulic seal leaking you will have to either replace it yourself or have the cylinder rebuilt. Or it may need a new pump?
And it should be inspected by someone that can see issues...refer to AA thread about car falling off lift.
Do you own a tractor? I would bet each ramp weighs close to 1000lbs
Forklift rental is @350 a day and 150 delivery...

Personally there are better alternatives... IMHO.

I already own a Quickjack. This just dropped in my lap so I was wondering some opinions on whether or not it was worth the effort. I do want a two post lift and thought this might b a good solution.

Equipment isn't an issue...I have three tractors, flatbed truck, a couple deck over trailers, have a forklift I can borrow, etc. The real concern is cost of overhaul (is it worth the effort) and utility

I'll take this opportunity to show off my tractors. I really like them

kidding aside, how much for the building, I assume its for sale?? bet better if someone would buy the building with the lift in it that wanted a lift and could just fix it and leave it there -
(is the building in NW Charolette NC area?)

If a guy had the space, I think it would be a good outside lift. FREE is pretty cheap and it would not be too much to move as one would think. just my .02 cents worth.

I'd take it if it's 220v, mount it outside or use it just like a 4 post lift for parking.
Alignments would be a bonus.

Looks like you have the equipment to move it and the space to set it up. Hydraulic repairs are usually not too costly.
