Installed a set of turbo tie rods today. Installing the inner spring on the passenger side boot was not bad. The driver side is another story. There is hardly any room with the master cylinder and brake lines in the way. I have it about 3/4's of the way on, but can't reach the top. Short stubby fingers don't help. Any tips?
Try a long (thin) allen key in a vice grip. The 90 degree part should allow you to slip under the spring and push it into place. A stiff coat hanger could also work.
I have a couple bent up old screwdrivers that I used for the job. Just make sure it has no sharp edges that could cut the boot.
Once you get it on the backside you have it beat.
