I took today off and ran over to Sonoma Raceway (It'll always be Sears Point to me...)

And as much as I love Porsches, this McLaren wins my vote for the day.

If thunderous, frightening, monstrous and brutal had an orgy and made a baby, this thing would still kick its ass.

I can't dispute that... And not to turn this into a debate but, IMO, it would have been cool to keep a V8 engine class. There was so much innovation and it was a class far more people could get into. Once the factories (Porsche in particular) got involved, the "little guys" didn't stand a chance.
I have a buddy who built his own CanAm car and raced it. He likely would never have won, but again, he was on the grid.
The price of progress, I suppose.
