Several years ago, I bought some speaker pods that had never had speakers installed in them.
Currently, the car does use speaker pods but instead has rectangular speaker enclosures (a/d/s 200i), so my question is
how do I remove the white "rivet-like" pins w/o damaging the pins or the pods?
They are the same white rivets used on the door sill molding. Take needlenose pliers and pull center out.
I believe the white rivets are just placeholders. Once you pull them out and place a speaker in there a bolt and washer screws into where those rivets are. I suspect you know that but just in case!
Thanks, that got them.
Anyone know the size of the screws? Seems like they might be M4 but they didn't seem to fit.
I thought m6 but can’t remember. Got an ACE hardware nearby? Mine has a very good collection of metric nuts/bolts.
Try SAE. I think they were set up for the Motorola speaker kits.
8-32 didn't thread. I'm fairly sure what I'm using is m4.
Porsche part catalog lists the right side screws as 8 x 16 raised countersink and the left side screw as an 8 x 22 tapping screw.
Are you mounting 200i speakers in there? Post pics of your install please. Also, Are you adding a sub and amp?
