914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 19mm master cylinder and bigger calipers?

Posted by: Mueller Jun 23 2018, 12:34 PM

What combo calipers are being used with the 19mm master cylinder besides stock?

Looking to ditch my rear stock calipers since going to drum style parking brakes.

I'm open to upgrade front brakes at same time....

911 parts?

944 turbo parts?

Boxster parts?

Wilwood parts?

I'm open to ideas.

The PO had fitted Brembo 4 pots (944S2) front and rear, pretty easily done without adaptor brackets and works great with 19mm ATE master cylinder, shame the hand brake set up was crap,I have re-engineered 80% of it so far.

And you are running 15" wheels correct?

Got a link to your brake install?

I run a 19 mm master, and aluminum 911 s calipers up front and 911sc rear brakes aft. The alu calipers are pricey tho. Still I like the setup very much with the five lug setup.

Thanks, lots of good info and links in that thread. I'm off work for a few more weeks, I need to swing by your place with my BBS rims and do a test fit front and rear.

I ran 911T struts and brakes on the front of my old 914 with 19mm master cylinder.
I don't know what master cylinder my current 914 has but I have a pair of Alfa Romeo Brembo aluminum front calipers that have 3 inch caliper bolt spacing so they bolt on early 911 strut. They would bolt on to 914 struts but the calipers are made for the thicker vented rotors.

I have only run 914 rear calipers but have read that 914 front calipers bolt on the rear.

Found a set of 4 Boxster calipers for $350 shipped in our classifieds, they are on the way to me right now!

Not sure how I am going to handle the front end, I have 3" spacing struts and not too sure I like how aAron Cox had to modify the brake mount on his struts.

I run the same setup on a 19mm. I run 914-6 rear calipers, 911 M calipers should work. The nice thing of the Brembo, it is a 911S caliper, with a 3" bolt spacing and huge pads. Alfa GTV and GTA I think. You can get pads to match front and rear from I forgot if you need to know, I'll go to the shop and look at the stacks of boxes. dry.gif

also Ran 911 Carrera front and rear from a 1987 911 donor on a 19mm worked great, but a bit heavy.

The Boxster S and the like come out to needing a 21mm master or 23mm, I can't remember now, confused24.gif did that math like 5 years ago, have the parts, not done yet. headbang.gif

Do a search on "Wilwood" under my screen name "wndsrfr" & page down to post #20 to see my input regarding Wilwoods...they are relatively inexpensive, rotors are only about $40 each and way lighter than anything else to reduce unsprung weight on the front...
