From the car I bought from Gary, BSChairman.
Nobody seems to know what it means. Anyway, the car came with the plate and when I went to register it, they couldn't use that plate. They HAD to issue a new physical plate!!

Thanks George. And thank you for your contributions.
I started collecting license plates 25 years ago. One day back then I called Auto Atlanta to order some 914 parts. I asked if any of your project cars out back might have any expired plates you could send me. When my box of parts arrived I was thrilled to find that you had included several old plates. For that I will be forever grateful. Thank you Doctor.

This is not a vanity plate. I got this when I renewed my tags. I almost fell over when they handed me this plate as I do have a couple of V8 conversion 914's. No problem with changing this to my 914.

When I was a kid, this plate was running around my town on a 914. I was able to grab it last year. If it doesn't make sense, just sound out each letter.

Asked vendor at VW show if he had any vintage TN tags with "914" He told me to take a look in his stash. First tag I pulled out...
I recently found the frame to go with the tag.
Haven't decided which 914 to register it on... the LE or the '73.

Personalized plate I got in 1975, the first year they offered them in Iowa. At first you could only have 6 letters so this was the only way I could spell it. That actually is the 1975 plate- I just added the little stickers to it over the years.
Now I have AZ plates on it with the in service date of 11 11 70.
