914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Help needed... Regulator..? +

Posted by: Dengo77 Jul 11 2018, 12:07 PM

Hello Porsche 914 fans

I needed some help, this regulator which is marked on the picture (red)... It is broken (rusted up) and therefor the engine is not happy.
What is going on with this part and does anyone know where it can be bought..?
Another issue is that several tubes are blocked, marked 2 with (Yellow). Hope that they are clear on the picture.

I bought the car in US some year ago and this year the plan was to fix it up… But..

Thanks and look forward to hear from one of you…

Dennis

The red circle is around the check valve for the Air Injection manifold, which is a Smog system require in California (maybe other states) in 1975 & 76. You can remove the complete manifold but you will need to block off the air noozles or ports in the heads or else you will have 4 large exhaust leaks.

I can't tell what is in the yellow circle but it is the general area for the Aux Air valve which provides more air to the engine when it is first started cold. You can take it out and clean it with carb cleaner or soak with wd-40 or other solvent to get it to free up, sometimes it works.

Good luck
Jim

I would remove the tubing for the air injection and as previously stated just screw caps on to the air injectors. Will clean up the engine compartment, the only thing that tubing did was when connected to an operating air pump, dilute the exhaust with fresh air, a lot of gizmo for not much result
All 50 state 2.0 75 76 914 models had this assembly installed, and it is not worth trying to keep up unless you have a concours car or a 1976 you have in California

You can find the screw on caps at a plumbing supply place
