Posted by: billh1963 Jul 25 2018, 02:25 PM

I really think my car likes are trending to air cooled cars. I don't know why....but I seem to gravitate towards them.

Should be delivered soon....

Very nice. I think I am picking up ‘70s motorcycles for the same reason. Our 962 mechanic said a real race car is air cooled.

Here’s a good collector tip - motorcycles can fill in the wasted space that won’t fit a car. biggrin.gif

I’ve owned many Corvair Corsa’s over the years.
All but one have been turbos. They were
Great bad weather cars when the 914 was put
away for the winters.
The only other air cooled 6, I have ever owned besides
Porsche’s and Corvairs...

They made them That Pretty?! Wow! I rode in one oncet. In high school. My friend told me he had read that the transmission was shared with a vette. But not the drive shaft, which he managed to snap. On his Dad’s car.

The yellow is a '70's Corvette yellow

In 1966 they went to a Saganaw Transmission. Those are the
ones the hot rod guys used when they put the V8 mid engine.
Crown made a kit that was fairly popular..

You should consider bringing it to the best air-cooled only event in the East.
The 14 Annual All Air Cooled Gathering, September 14,15,16, 2018.
Yes, there is a Corvair class.

I remember having a friend that had a 64 Monza Spyder when I was in high school. Man that thing was wicked fast. My parents also liked Corvairs, we had a 62, 64 and a bus.

Same Petersen cruise-in car, I will meet up with him next C+C and discuss Yenko's, it does have an insane camshaft driving.gif Attached Image

my dad has a yenko serial number listed under hid misspelled name ...they cant find.
Don was a good guy doing what SCCA wanted...

Yenko Stingers are awesome....is it bad that I'd rather have one of them than a Yenko Camaro/Chevelle/Nova?

Posted by: billh1963 Oct 8 2018, 01:41 PM

Picked up another....nicely restored 1965 Corsa 140 with 4 speed and positraction. Lots of options. This car is a senior class show car from past Corvair conventions.

Not trying to be a cheerleader for these cars. But, they really are fun to drive and no Porsche tax on parts. Not only that, the design has aged exceptionally well.

They can be made to sound good, too!
