Something needs to be done about this. mad.gif

Recently I went out for a spin in my teener, and ended up creeping along at 10mph for several miles before I could safely get around this biker (see pic), without causing an accident.

I was fit to be tied. Anyone else feel this way?

The title got my blood boiling. Cars and bikes are supposed to share the road and there are offenders on both sides. But then I saw the photo! Damn! Let''s hear it for Spring bike riders. smilie_pokal.gif

six months of planning for a driving tour we had a couple weekends ago and on the day of the tour, theres an un-announced triathalon and they are using the exact same roads we are. We did about five miles in first gear during the tour. Bikers were as pissed as us. We beat them in the long run tho. smilie_pokal.gif

I knew that title would piss someone off. biggrin.gif

Although I've been slacking off lately, I do a fair amount of road riding (bout 300mi.mo.), and I totally agree with you.

Both belong on the road and deserves each other's respect.

Unfortunately, bikers receive very little. sad.gif

Some of the bikers cross the line though. Many times I see people riding their bikes on sidewalks and then cross against the traffic. I personally have ran over a guy on a bike. It wasn't my fault and I was told by the investigator that I should have backed up over him a few times. He ran a red light, in a cross walk with no lights on his bike in the dark. He also didn't speak any English. I think he got what he deserved. As for sharing the road with the bikers, I don't have a problem with that. If they want to ride in the middle of the road they need to at least do the speed limit like any other vehicle. Otherwise, they need to ride in the bike lanes. Maybe I should do like they do and drive really slow in the bike lanes, what do you think they would say? Mutual respect and common sense is really what it comes down to. A buddy of mine came over yesterday and told me he was cruising through Rancho Palos Verde the other day and passed a guy on the ground, he was covered and his head was split wide open. He was a biker, no helmet on the wrong side of the road on a curvy road I might add. He died out of stupidity and negligence on both sides. Like they used to tell us when I was growing up, "Watchout for the other guy" They dont teach that anymore. What happened?

When on my bike, I only ride in regular traffic lanes if I'm going the speed limit or more. OK then and making left turns on multilane streets.

On the other side of the dashboard, many years ago, a teenager on a bike tried to kill himself on the front of my VW Squareback. He didn't succeed. Actually, he turned across traffic without a glance just as I was passing him. Broke my headlight, pushed my fender back so the door would bind, broke my windshield and dented my roof with his head before I could hit the brakes. The repair shop said "get your money from the kid's parents homeowners insurance". My insurance guy called later and advised that I leave it alone before they investigated and put any percentage blame on me. I dopped it and left the incident at 100% the kid's fault. Never did get the car all the way fixed. 27 years later and I still remember the kid's name... stupid kid. screwy.gif

That has got to be a Dutch girl...all the women ride bikes in the Netherlands so this is a common sight. Damn, time for another trip!
Jeroen and Jacco are lucky bastards and I guess this is why their cars aren't running! They ride their bikes instead of finishing their cars.
