914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Who did I piss off?

Posted by: Series9 Jun 14 2005, 09:51 PM

24 hours later and there are no responses to the 'Surgery for the RS' and 'Official TurtleGirl build thread'.

WTF? Are you guys so used to nice 914s that the first drive in a WEVO tranny equipped 914, shifted by an old 914 steering linkage, is just no longer interesting?

Posted by: Aaron Cox Jun 14 2005, 09:53 PM

ive been away...working.

wow. wevo! cool deal!
i guess people are busy? cool.gif

turtle girl thread gives us tons of inspiration! come to my house and strip/blast/paint my car anyday!

Nah....we are just waiting for more "suggestive" pics with parts.....Jenny told me that she wants a pic of you all greased up and in a leather thong....

Oh wait, that was Roger Grubb....never mind. blink.gif

Actually, I started to respond to Turtlegirl Build thread, but i got called away from my computer. It looks great, I was noticing that the threaded standoff found behind the rear bumper is not on the TG build thread car, did you remove it? or was there ever one there for that year? Did you fill in the hole on your cars rear bumper? and do I need one on my car? my welder buddy accidently welded up the hole on my rear bumber, and I'm not sure if I should drill out the hole again. smile.gif

late cars had the tow hook in the reinforced bumper instead of off the body.

No Joe, you didnt piss anyone off, we still love and admire you and all of your skills. I just wish you lived closer, we could have some great times with all we do to these cars. Think Big BBQ parties with lots of beer and Buckle's BBQ.

Well, Joe, that usually means that nobody gives a shit or are so in awe that they're speechless (typeless?).
When this happens to me, I prefer to think the latter.

I, for one, can't wait to see your next post.....no....really.

I'm very relieved your wevo install was a success and you are happy with it, cuz I'm next. First tho, I need to address the looseness of the bearing races in the 915 cases. The early ones like mine have a cast-in steel bearing retainer near the diff thats pretty stable. But none of 'em have this at the other end next to 1st and 5th. This will lead to noise and accelerated wear. This can be fixed, and I'm thinking take care of it now while its apart.

couple questions if you dont mind:

are you using the patrick clutch cable set up? Its ok?

are you using 914-6 hubs and 911 axles and 911 cv's?

can one use 914-6 axles with 911 cv's and 911 stubs so as not to have to use spacers when using 911 axles?

I'm using the Patrick clutch cable bracket. Stock cable, stock pulley, Patrick pulley bracket and Patrick clevis and it works like stock.

As for the drive line:

911SC hubs on 914 stock bearings w/Patrick shims and late (110mm flange) 911 half shafts. It all works perfectly and I will NEVER need to worry about 914 CVs blowing up under the power I have.

Dude, you never need to fish for attention. Your work speaks for itself. You are in it for the results, not club worship. Right? Now get back to work.

I was just very proud of my steering linkage solution to the shift problem. I had a dream about it last week and then went and stole Liz's steering linkage so I could cut it up.

When nobody commented, I was kinda bummed.

I'm feeling better now. biggrin.gif

Well Joe, I'll be the first to say, I didnt post because you pissed me off bootyshake.gif

All your sexy creations make me want to drop out of school and work on my car all day. I check your thread all the time, and you can only have so many drooley.gif smileys in one post...

Your work is amazing Joe. And it amazes me how much you get done. I wish my wife would let me spend enough time in the garage to get work done at a fraction of your pace.

What kind of grease are we talking here? Like Crisco, bacon or the kind for packing bearings?

Back on topic, the RS is beautiful. And I'm totally envious of Liz having a friend like you, kicking ass on getting a car ready for her. clap.gif

You mean the kind of friend who will steal your steering linkage while she is in another state at the 914 Club Route 66 Classic and the 'friend' is at home with the unguarded teener parts? Is that the kind of friend you really want Jenny? The kind of friend who does not reply to an e-mail from a guy in Las Vegas who offers him free license plates for his collection, even after he out bid me on eBay?

So to answer your original question Joe, "Who did you piss off?" Not me. I like you, your car and your friends to much for that to happen. But keep trying. I am sure your could if you really wanted to. flipa.gif grouphug.gif biggrin.gif
