914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Euromeister 17 x 7 fuchs on narrow body

Posted by: Mark Henry Aug 18 2018, 09:08 AM

I'm going to try Euromeister 17 x 7" (ET23) on narrow body, because I found a pair here in Canada for cheap, saves me about $200 of importing a full set.
Just wondering how they fit, from a tire calculater it seems with a 205/50-17 tire it will only push the tire out less than a 1/4" more than the 205/60-15's I now have. If that's all it is they should fit my rear fenders with no mod or just a slight roll of the rear part of the lip.
I really like the look of the 15" fuchs with 205/60-15 tires, but the all season passenger car tires I have just plain suck.

The pro is 17" tires are cheap and you have a good selection of performance tires.

The con is I've never cared for the big rim baby buggy look. It just doesn't work for me on a vintage 914. The other con is they're not real and heavier.

But someone posted a set where they painted the lip black creating a faux higher side wall look that I really liked.
I've tried searching to find this pic but have had no luck, hopefully the member will see this and repost the pic.

17 by seven will fit if they have the correct offset, but the standard 911 914 offset in a seven inch wheel will not fit. People are installing 7.5 Boxster wheels on their four cylinder by first installing an inch wide four to five lug adaptor and then bolting on the wheels,. The Boxster wheels have such an inset that they actually have to be spaced out to fit a 914 narrow body. It is an easy conversion and gives the 914 a modern look if that is what you like, still a 205 tire though

The big questions I have is if anyone who's done this, is the ET23 correct offset?
I believe it is... but I'm working from memory.

And does anyone have pics?
Not interested in sizes or rims other than 17x7" euromeister please.

Long story deleted.... you will be fine, maybe need to move 1/2* camber.

Post pics. I'm thinking to replace my Boxster 16s with those.

Dang I thought 020 was ET20 but turns out stock 15x6 are ET36
ET23.3 I believe would make them stick out 3/4"...NFG. sad.gif

Where did you get the 17x 7 ET40 rims?

Dang sad.gif I hate reneging on a deal, but money hasn't changed hands.

15x7 Fuchs are et23. Cookies are 15x7 et23. A 205 tire is pretty much 205 wide at the tread. So why doesn't the 17x7 et23 fit with a little rolling????

My 225/50 on 16x7 et40 +15mm spacer Boxsters fit great with DD's autox alignment. Then I bought an Eastwood tool and rolled the stromberg.gif out of them that looks like they'll fit a 235-245.

Euromeister 7x17 on the front and 9x17 on the rear. Fit nicely and looks good.

i have stocke 16” fuchs, and we put 205/55 on them, have been rolled ans still rubbed and blistered paint, went thru a lot to make fenders look like new after someone made a huge mess of my fenders- these do now fit but still so close that with a new paint jobi am not chancing it- - answer to your question is some may make it due to variation in the cars since they were hand made. i had more room on one side than the other. i had 3 choices- 1. use 944 wheels- they go in just under1/2” on inside and outside and give you enough room with 205’s- 2. use a 195 tire in that same brand to get a slightly smaller tread width , i would have had 1/4 more room on outside , OR 3. use a tire brand that is not as wide- not all 205 tires are the same!.
I opted for a 4th choice, keep my 205/55 Bridgestone potenza and put them on a 16x6 fuchs, same as front- .

also as stated by another, you could increase your camber - i have a stock set up but if i increased this it may have fiven me the safe clearance i wanted with my 7” rims- just dont have thr time to sort thst all out or the $$ to spend on changing tires etc- i already have the set of 6’s

That was me too, and I told you a long time ago on your thread to just tweak the camber and be done with it, but...
