Soooo much work but what an amazing result!

Beautiful flared body. Great color too. Kudos to the team that designed and built this great car!

wow. Amazing.
I know it would've taken away from the 914 look, but I think it would look better if the raised front turn signal sections weren't there.

Wow what a lot of work but it's very cool. We've had discussions about Boxster style radiator fitment but look at the size of those things! They would not fit easily under a stock 914 body.

But why add those ugly scca flares?

I wondered the same thing. There are much better options.

Posted by: zipedadoo Aug 28 2018, 01:41 PM

At first I thought they should have found a donor in better condition but after going through the build photos they sure didn't use much of the 914. So it's nice they didn't cut up a "rust free" car.

Posted by: Curbandgutter Aug 28 2018, 01:56 PM

I wonder how stiff it is torsionally?

Kinda was thinking it a 914 rebody. Put the candle back!

It's the A.I.R. SCCA body kit, never liked the look of it ...

How much do you guys think they spent on this 1 project,.all fiberglass body I presume.

Posted by: JeffBowlsby Aug 28 2018, 05:31 PM

The 914 body rides that chassis really high. Too high, to my eye and it looks like they cannot lower it any. Shorter rims might help a little but one almost needs steps to get into it.

Makes me appreciate how low the 914 really is happy11.gif

Posted by: carr914 Aug 28 2018, 05:41 PM

that does nothing for me. as Jeff says sits too high, as Paul said, why those Flares, etc

What are you waiting for? Oh, I get it. You have common sense. Ahhh, heck.

Posted by: gereed75 Aug 28 2018, 06:55 PM

Reminds me of the Kharman Ghia on the 911 chassis I have seen at Hersey Import show. Can’t find a link. Did find this https://flatsixes.com/cars/porsche-boxster/kharmann-ghia-body-boxster/

In both cases I think the Ghia came out better than the 914. All steel, better proportions. This 914 took some serious skill though.

100%

I like the Karman Ghia version a couple years back.

I'm sorry, but I think it is ridiculous

Ridiculously AWESOME! aktion035.gif

Next they are going to put a 924 on a Boxster, backwards.

I saw this picture of it years ago and fell in love, but had no idea of it's under pinnings. Even Better!

That hit me immediately too. Amazing work but the rounded turn signals don’t work with the angularity of the rest of the car which is a cool modern update.

Looks like its on jack stands.
Cool idea. Proportion sacrificed to suit chassis

So, Now the rust issues of a 914 AND an IMS Bearing on top of that.
Yeah, I’ll pass... Just cause you can doesn’t mean you SHOULD.

Yep it does sit too high. I dealt with that on my 914-996 Audi TT project. The strut towers of the Boxster sits about 3" higher than that of the 914.

Posted by: Rand Aug 29 2018, 12:09 PM

I get people doing custom work. Sometimes they go way overboard and waste cubic dollars for a "look" that doesn't perform better. Lost me there.

Posted by: mepstein Aug 29 2018, 01:43 PM

A 914 for someone who doesn't like 914's.

Posted by: 7TPorsh Aug 30 2018, 09:06 AM

Somebody needs to put a Boxster body on a 914 tub.

Posted by: PanelBilly Aug 31 2018, 10:28 AM

It’s like a 70 year old man with a 16 year old babe. The idea might be apealying from the man but it’s just wrong from any other view point.

Wonderful skills at work here

Posted by: JeffBowlsby Aug 31 2018, 08:52 PM

Can someone post a photo of a stock 914 next to a boxster for comparision? Like a front on view.

Posted by: URY914 Sep 1 2018, 05:39 AM

It looks like a bad kit car. All that work for what?

Reminds me of those Vettes that are back dated to a '50's-something model.
