914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Rear Sway Bar Ball Stud Removal

My '74 parts car has a set of shock bolts/rear sway bar ball studs installed. Does anyone have any tips on how to easily remove these from a car without removing the shocks and springs?

The rear shocks hold up the car, put it up on jack stands to relieve the spring pressure, loosen the nut and tap the bolt out with a hammer and soft drift.

The ball stud is part of the lower shock bolt. You don't have to remove the struts from the car, but you do have to unbolt them from the trailing arm... I believe there are flats on the end of the bolt, under where the ball is, for you to put a wrench on. You can use a socket or a wrench on the nut on the other end.

You can replace them with the version of the bolt that doesn't have the ball end on it. Looks to be a 914-specific part, though; the PET says it is part number 914 333 565 01 and calls it "bearing pin".
