The past few months I have been working on our 914s for Okteenerfest, this started to churn in my head. It started when I heard the song it is based on while listening to the radio, and part of the chorus popped in to my head.
And yes, I did sing it. I was a bit "lubricated" at the time.
I edited it to include the two new verses.
Enjoy!!

NineFourteenerVille - Sung to the tune of Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet.
(Verse 1)
Adjustin the park brake
Watching the rust flake
Heat Exchangers are covered in oil
UPS drop ships
On my front porch step
Boxes of parts to continue my toil
(Chorus)
Wastin away again in NineFourteenerVille
Searchin for my lost CV joint bolts
Some people claim there's a woman to blame
But I know...
It's nobody's fault.
(Verse 2)
Blew out a brake line
Cruised through a stop sign
Called Triple A, had it towed on back home
Sanding the fender
Replaced the oil sender
On this rusty old sports car that helps me hang on
(Chorus)
Wastin away again in NineFourteenerVille
Searchin for my lost CV joint bolts
Some people claim there's a woman to blame
Ya I know...
It's my own damn fault!
(Verse 3)
Got out my jack stands
Came up with a new plan
Bought me a welder to fix all that rust
Way down in the hell hole
Almost lost my soul
I’ll make this car better or I’ll go bust
(Chorus)
Wastin away again in NineFourteenerVille
Searchin for my lost CV joint bolts
Some people claim there's a woman to blame
Ya I know...
It's really her fault!
(Verse 4)
Don't know the reason
It kept it running all season
First time it's done that in so many years
But you know the clutch cable
Will end up on the table
These damned 'ol Porsches can leave you in tears....
(Chorus)
Wastin away again in NineFourteenerVille
Searchin for my lost CV joint bolts
Some people claim there's a woman to blame
Now I'm sure
It's her damn fault!

For those of you who don't know this, my wife, Betty, had her 914 when I met her 33 years ago. So the end of the last chorus is dedicated to her.
Love it!
How did I miss the sing along? This belongs on video....someone have it to post?
I couldn’t get it out of my head driving home! The ultimate ear worm.
I think Dee Bryson may have got a video
That's great. Had to get my guitar out to sing along.
good stuff Clay!
Very cool.
Next verse:
I got out my jack stands
Came up with a new plan
Bought me a welder to fix all that rust
Way down in the hell hole
I nearly lost my soul
I’ll make this car better or I’ll go bust
Here you go @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=1143 I got inspired and finished the last verse
This belongs on its own sticky when you get it finished...
I don't know the reason
I kept it running all season
First time it's done that in years
But you know the clutch cable
Will end up on my table
These darn 'ol Porsches can leave you in tears....
If y'all keep this up, we are going to have more verses than the original song.
I think Larmo could play it too
Awesome! A new song to go along with "Porsche Bells" and "A New 914"!

How about,
Some people claim that Butzi Porsche's to blame
But I know, it's all Klie's fault...

My current situational verse:
Sold one of my teeners,
and bought me a Ghia,
still have another one - waiting on me
Have all the new parts here,
maybe in a few years,
hope it's back on the road - some sunny day ...
