Yes loving the green. I will get to see them up close.
My 924 is also selling there.

The '71 is a beauty but also a bit of a mashup.
Most interesting is what appear to be Euro buckets under US lenses in the front.
20 years ago there were die hard 924 owners who swore by their cars. It would be fun to drive one....
It is an interesting car, It is super quiet and at 70mph it is wonderful. As you would imagine, it's a little under powered, and not as tight in the twisties as the 914, or 911. But as a grand touring car or a daily, I can see why they were the success for the period.
If you read the description, you can see they were not cheap either. 18k in 1980 was a crap ton of $.
I'm going to miss having it in the stable, but now that I have a really good 914, it became odd man out.
Ferg
Hey Ferg, what is the estimate on your 924? It's beautiful!
When PCNA moved to Reno in 1984, they also split off their parts distribution from Volkswagen. I was a parts guy at the local Wichita Falls TX VW/Porsche/Audi/Mazda dealership.
To clear out the remaining stock, VW sent all dealers a flyer listing all remaining Porsche parts in their inventory, with discount prices. I went through it to see if anything interesting was on it. One of these jumped out at me:
https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/po18/the-porsche-70th-anniversary-sale/lots/n0004-porsche-356-b-carrera-gtgtl-four-cam-engine-1960-61-no-96037/694980
Complete 4-cam Carrera engine with all accessories, sitting on a palette. And it was going for a stoopit [i]low price. I don't remember what it was exactly, but the number of around $4000 sticks in my head (but it may have been less.)
I remember pleading with the dealer principle, trying to impress upon him the significance of that engine, that he'd easily double his money if he'd buy it and sit on it for a short while. But he had no interest. And, being a engineering student there was no way I could swing it.
I've often wondered what happened to that engine. Someone got a smoking deal.
Interested to see where these 6's go, I netted $82k on mine on BAT so these would have to go north of $90k to top mine. What do you guys think?
Wow nice cars, like the 924 also, wonder what the 4 cammer will go for ?,remember years ago reading about the top engine guru of these motors offering a rebuild service on these motors,he would offer to fly any where in the world and rebuild your motor for 150K ,makes you think what the cost would be now.
Car shipped out Saturday and just got word from the driver it's delivered in Atlanta.
I fly out Friday super early. Should be a fun weekend, my car was between the 918 Spyder and the RS lightweigt on the transport

I had a 78 and 82 924 way back when they were new. Loved them despite their lack of power. Later traded them for a brand new 1983 944, another great car.
GLWS !

Man those look so cool. Love the period front lip!
The Willow green 914/6 is nice.
Drizzle all day. Both sixes out in the rain as well as my car

Not sure what to make of the results. The Willow sold for $130 hammer, the Metallic for $80.
Great weekend, and was wonderful to finally meet you in person. I look forward to the next time.
I had to post this. "well they did get wet"

Looks like some strong prices and a lot of sales. Was this a reserve or no reserve auction? BTW, Mecum Auctions just had an auction last weekend in Chicago and Walter Payton’s 1979 911 Turbo sold for $324,500.
Anything under 250k was no reserve. That is standard for RM Sotherby's
Congrats on the sell price of the 924 Ferg!!
Interesting that it appears the 356 prices have leveled off and didnt raise much like the rest of the Pcars.
speedster prices have been on the decline for a while now. The exception being the original paint that brought 494k that example was really impressive and deserved the big $.
The deal of the sale in my opinion was this car. My paddle would have went up if my car had sold before it in the run order.
