It's that time again. Let's fill up the parking lot. The last two years we had 25--27 cars
Let's beat that. Being as there will be so many people, maybe we can have breakfast and talk about WCR 2019. Toss around ideas and maybe get some volunteers for various
Tasks. Attached Image

Does anyone know when it starts? I’ve checked the PCA website and it doesn’t say. We’re driving down from Central Cal. Will have to leave really early, but don’t want to leave earlier than necessary.

Thanks

Hey Jerry--

I usually get there around 7am but feel free to roll in a bit later. Don't eat breakfast beforehand.

Fun to see you and your wife again!!!!

Thanks Oscar! Yes, we probably won’t make it there at 7 as that’d mean leaving home at 2 am, but we’ll see!

Blessings,
Jerry & Cathy

Posted by: sb914 Oct 17 2018, 01:59 PM

Officially 9:00 am but we usually get there around 7:30 .don't matter what time you arrive. See ya soon.

Posted by: Unpretentious Oct 17 2018, 02:44 PM

Thanks for time spefics Surf Guru. We’re driving to see two of our sons in San Diego that day. I suggested to Cathy we drive the Creamsicle instead of her car, and “leave a bit earlier” to attend the Cone Zone event on our way down. I will stretch “Earlier” as much as I can!

So who all will be there with 914s for this one? confused24.gif

It turns out I'll actually be in town for this one, since our travel plans have changed for Oct/Nov, but still no 914 ready to roll, so we'll be in an alternative vehicle (DD).

However, we may bring along a camping accessory suitable for all Porsches - even our 914s & older cars - which you Teeners who like to camp may like!

Hmmmm ... well some of you know that we already have an OO `88 Westfalia - so what could it be?? idea.gif

The plan is to pick it up this Saturday.

Well we got it this past Saturday, & many of you have probably seen my other Garage Forum SOT post on the 914 & Porsche Camping Accessory" -

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=334146&st=0&gopid=2661563&#entry2661563

However - we won't be bringing it to the PCA GPX 914 Breakfast this coming Saturday, because "Cone Meister" Dick Douglas has limited space for you Teeners - & I don't want to take up 1-2 spaces which you folks with 914s can use - but we plan to be there to visit with y'all!

So FYI, I'll do a mini-display below for y'all instead - here are some teaser pix of our new "Toy" - otherwise known as my wife's new "Lil' Pucker"!
(NOT her name for it BTW happy11.gif )

Attached Image Attached Image
Attached Image Attached Image
Attached Image Attached Image

We can tow this with any of our current cars, since it's small car towable with the Westy, & with the `85 325e & `73 914-2.0 - if I put hitches on them. I need to find a factory option BMW E30 Euro Hitch, which I can have a shop duplicate, but with a 2" receiver, which I'd planned to do anyway for our Yakima bike rack. However, I'm not going to cut anything to put a hitch on the 914 after the resto, so that's questionable for us - but others on 914world have done 914 hitch receiver installs.

It's a mostly original (except fabrics & some seals) 1970 Eriba Puck - a German made Export model, & finished fitting-out in CA with the CA-HCD RV/Trailer Approval Plate - so it's considered a USA Import Model. There are quite a few Pucks & the larger Eriba lightweight trailers around the USA (see TheSamba Eriba Puck topic under Accessories), & many more are all over in the UK & Europe.

It's just 12' L (10' L box) x 5.5' W, 660 lbs empty, 70 lbs hitch wt. - sleeps 2-3 at dinette made into bed, 2 burner LP stove, Icebox (some had the optional 3-way fridge), sink & +/-10 gal. fresh water tank (all are USA made appliances & electrical), with an ovail center pop-top lifts for standing room & down to fit in a normal ht. garage.

Cheers! beerchug.gif

Oscar,

Didn't know for sure that we'd be coming, but I just got the Creamsicle back on the road. Hadn't driven it since the Route 66 outing!

Are you going to have some of key chains with you? I'd like to buy at least two.

Thanks,

Jerry

It was fun to watch guys in gt3 and spyder denied parking for our narps!

The guy with the 356 Cab who was also turned away in putty or light grey (don't recall the Porsche color name) was their GPX Region VP, but the really interesting thing about that one was that it was ORIGINAL paint! blink.gif

Cone Meister Dick Douglas told me that he had stored it for 30 years in a bubble while he worked overseas! drooley.gif

Great turn-out guys!

I think that they're going to try to have 914s Cone Zone as an annual Nov. event - so I'll see if I can convince our OCR Cone Meister Rob Greene to make ours an annual Spring event for a set month too.

Perhaps some of you in LA, SD, San Gabriel, Riverside & Santa Barbara Regions can see if you can get your local regions/chapters to do a similar thing for your breakfast or other regular events (many haven't started the cone zone idea which OCR started a couple of years ago). Tell them that it's a good way to draw in non-members as potential recruits too.

I was glad that I could make this one after my travel plans away changed, because I had to miss the 9/3 OCR by going to our big annual Cherokee Ceremonial gathering in OK over Labor Day weekend which I do every year.

Cheers! beerchug.gif

Always fun hanging with you guys...props to Rudy and Jerry who came in from Murrieta and Madera, Ca

Oscar

Oscar I had such a fun time driving your "loud" evilgrin.gif 74 with a 2.7 6 in it. That puppy loved to bark in between the gears. The last time I drove a 914 was my 6 in 98. It too had a 2.7 so this reminded me how much I missed driving these little go karts. Thanks Again.

BTW thanks for the 916 bumpers. I will be modifying them to work with what I am doing.

I am still awestruck that Oscar had 4 of his cars at the Cone Zone and that left 3 still at home! On top of that Oscar was walking around with a box of muffins and other treats in the am for anyone who was hungry. Talk about a nice guy!

I feel fortunate to have gotten in on the group buy for bumper chroming and I know how much effort it takes to put together something like that. I believe he said they ended up with something like 87 bumpers being done. w00t.gif

Wow; there was a WCR size crowd there. Good seeing old friends I hadn't seen in years, and good meeting new members. Great day for a gathering.... smile.gif
And thanks to Tom for the tip for driving North without getting on the 405; I'm going to try it........ smile.gif

Great turn-out, & both the OCR & GPX folks all notice what a great turn-out we 914ers get at these breakfasts, the concours, etc.!

That'll work for you Jim, cuz it's worked well for us whether slow & towing, or just with a car! Avoid the 5, 405 & 101 at all costs, is my motto!

Unfortunately, I got to talking to a retired Motor Trend writer/editor Jim Sacz (sp?) who is a GPX member that Dick D introduced us too - great chat with him, but I missed getting around to meet everybody from on here.

I don't know that my 914 resto will be ready for 2019 WCR down south next year, but hopefully I can meet everybody that weekend, & place faces & cars - with names & screen names.

My getting all of the with names & screen names placed with faces is a challenge for me! blink.gif wacko.gif unsure.gif

It seems like world could do with a member directory that includes everybody, & lists their actual name, screen name & 914(s) which we could search. Maybe make up name badges with your own pix etc. - like they do for 40th & 50th year reunions for old farts like me!? biggrin.gif

Cheers! beerchug.gif

It would be nice to have the screen names of 914world people on there too, since most use ones which are not close to their actual names. I'm always struggling with who is who on here, when it's hard enough to remember 1 name with CRS & Half-zymers! biggrin.gif

Just a thought for future things like this poster.

Thanx for doing it again this year - looks great!

Cheers! beerchug.gif
