So what's up with Jenny's car?? Has she found out how much it is going to take to fix it?
(I am not flying down with my welder that's for sure....)
Geoff
Its toast. I'm pulling out her last damsel in distress card and asking all the BBS users for a inexpensive roller for her. Something within the state of California. I'll probably organize an event to flip the parts from her car into another roller. I dont have time to do it for free. Even a late model 75-76 tub that is decent would be fine (run plates from crash tub until it doesnt have to be smogged)
Help her.
B
Hey B,
I just happen to know of a decent '75 chassis in Fremont....ex-race car that he is parting out.
Describe "toast".....lunched motor, crunched body, rust????
3200$ "estimate" that didnt include fixing the floorpan that is completely screwed up. The front of the trunk floorpan took the brunt of the hit (did you see the bridge ??) The center tunnel is bent so bad the shift linkage in the tunnel is bent. The passenger seat is sitting 3-4 inches higher on one side than it is on the other.
Time for another tub.
B
Man, this is bad news!
Sorry Jenny!!!
cheers,
Jeroen
Is her car a real 6? Sounds like a lot of work to fix even though I am now pretty good at front trunks. Fixing a tunnel would take tons of time to do right. Even replacing floorpans is time consuming to do.
You are right Brad to just look for a rust free roller as she will end up with a car that is" right" and not half-assed.
Good idea to organize a event to swap out the parts for her! Post the dates and maybe I will come down.
Geoff
I'm not sure how I'm going to pull this off (flipping parts into another chassis for her) Once we start our next SSI run, I wont have much time to deal with her car for 3-4 months. About the only thing I can do is give up the space and some tools to help make it happen. Right now we need to get her car from the body shop. They have no space to store it and I have NO place to store it until we can get to it.
B
Jenny's car is a 4cyl 2.0. I added a sway bar and helped her really make it a clean car.
B
I could store it. Have a bit of spare room in my front yard
I wish you where closer.. I would take you up on it. I'll chat with you later about the tub your offered. I have been running around all day and need some sleep.
B
Is that the barrel you shoot at when you're bored? Nothing like the wide open spaces....kinda looks like Eastern Washington too.
Geoff
Actually it is a target. 100yds from the house.
The tree line you see is almost 1/2 a mile away. It's where the beach starts. There is 110 acres of cleared land and a 25 acre lake just before the tree line, then sand beach, then the big lake.
Hey I just spoke to a guy today in San Bernardino who has a 74 LE car TUB for sale. No engine, trans, center console or fog lights, but otherwise complete. He indicated he thought it would be a good driver and has owned a couple dozen 914s over the years, he is regular friends with Glenn Sager.
Would Jenny be interested in a White/Red LE car?
Thanks for the lead Jeff. We are standing a 99% chance that I'll be Jenny's eyes and ears when it comes to deciding on what chassis we use. One of my main goals was to try and stay with a bright colored car (the LE fits this) Please shoot me some contact info for this guy or I can call Glenn tomorrow and get more info from him.
2 chassis so far and its been a few hours.
B
damn, posts like these keeps reminding me I need to find someone to weld the front fender on my car.
Wow that is incredible, two nice rollers already. The LE sounds like a good ride, course I have always liked the Creamsicle cars. That would be a nice car to swap all the good parts to and have something nice at the end of all this.
L8apex, bring it on over!
Geoff
Yeah pretty good so far (I forgot that Bontempi offered a chassis today before I even posted here) so.. make that 3 chassis'.
If I pull this off.. there will be some serious ASS kissing going on (from her..LOL)
B
3 chassis to pick from is great ! I am still voting for the LE....
Let's hear from Jenny or is she now on groupie status with DD?
Geoff
Nice pic Geoff. Thats got my vote. I have a few lenses and fog light grills I could possibly offer, if the need arises. Wish I could do more
Is this what the LE from San Bernadino would look like, or is it the actual car? it is the creamsicle car, or a different color? I know Porsche's idea of orange and red are a bit skewed. I'd love to have an LE car. But I think I'll let brad be my eyes and ears on it. Big plus is it won't have to be smogged. Very cool.
Geoff... yeah, let me just drive 1000 miles over and have you weld. you think I'll make it back by tomorow? hehehe. I'll find someone to help me or guide me through it.
Have you cut the old fender off yet? The welding is not that big of a deal....the hardest part is removing the old fender and preparing the new (or used) fender for replacement.
I like this one as well, but keep in mind that the San Berdu car will need work to look this good...:
I have a guy that can make the side stripes....I hear they are NLA.
Well, just a $300 paint job and switch over the parts and away she goes.
Yeah, I know the paint will be peeling off first time she goes over 60 mph....
To me the biggest paint of these projects is the bodywork and paint, but doesn't Brad know a good shop that is doing Andy's car?
Geoff
So Jenny, or anyone else that was there,
I seem to have missed exactly what happened that day on the back roads of NoCal.
I've seen the pictures and heard the fall out. Was it those two High Fiving Squirrels from the insurance commercial?
I've got a shotgun and recipe for squirrel stew...
-Mike D.
I just took the turn a bit too fast, and the roads were slicker than anticipated. We drifted out into the guard rail and almost went off a bridge. But my passenger and I are both alright.
Brad does know a good body shop. In fact, that's where I got the estimate. Yeaman does very good work, I just can't afford to spend more on fixing the body than what the whole car's worth. Trust me, if I had the means, I'd definitely go to that shop to have work done on my car. I was even considering getting the body damage repaired by Scott, and then getting a Maaco paint job. But I'd only be saving a couple hundred. And if the only difference between a top of the line paint job and a maaco paint job is a couple hundred clams, I'll eat peanut butter sandwiches for a year to have the top of the line paint job.
BTW, the squirrels would already be stew if you used a shotgun. No need for a recipe!!
Mike, that's what I need to do first. I'm affraid of cutting it wrong or something and won't be able to align the new/old fender on. Brad gave me just a small front piece of the fender, which is all I needed. Something like from the front of the fender to almost the middle of the wheel well.
When welding, how much should i do? Obviously, I'll be tacking it on first, but what about the seam left over from the to pieces mating together? I don't want to miss align the thing
In both the LE pics, the car seems to be lowered quite a bit. Any ideas on how to get a car as low as those? Coil overs?
Chris,
I can sell you a sagging set of factory springs for 400$
EVERY time you see a 914 with its nose in the air and the ass dragging.. It needs new springs. Period. I cant count how many times people have told me they replaced the shocks "but the car still sags in the rear" Springs hold up a car...shocks do not.
B
You mean like this? I know, I need new springs. Soon....
This was before I stripped all the crap off my Fuchs.
I realize sagging ass is caused by old springs. In the pic that Bleyseng posted, is this a case of saggy ass springs with the front end lowered to balance it out, or is there a different suspention combo that lets you set the car close to the ground? I know its hard to tell by just a pic, but any ideas? BTW I am just curious. I am not looking for a 914 that floats across the road. Its already low enough
wouldn't rear adjustable perches and raised spindle up front give this look?
You can adjust the front ride height to match the sagging rear if you want. Low rider 914!
Its fine or a track or autocross car but not a street car, man you would be hitting the engine bar on everything!
If Jenny likes the LE looks and is going to have to paint it, why not paint it the Grasshopper scheme? Now that would be a one of a kind car!
Geoff
What colors are grasshopper scheme? The signal orange really grew on me. I loved the yellow that would come out when the car was wet and it was sunny out.
Ah the Grasshappa...the rarest of the rare...so rare, no one has a photo. This is my photoshop rendition of the above car, but the actual green color has not been confirmed...
I calculate that the made <100 of them, and they did not make any for the european market...
Brad, Jenny,
Just a reminder - I have indoor storage and a tub if you want either (both free to you guys)
Richard
If they're both getting in a tub it better be indoors
Jon
Jenny... Might consider this for the next offroad excursion?
Marc-André
Man, if she likes that she can stay in groupie status! Hmmm, maybe if it was 4 wheel drive it could be a good autocrosser.....
Geoff
Richard, thanks for the generous offer. I might take you up on that, depending on what Brad thinks. This car thing is pretty much at his mercy. I'm pretty much just going to throw money at him when he asks for it.
and Marc-André... I wouldn't be caught dead in that abomination. I'm sure it serves *some* purpose, but it doesn't fit into my whole "cruising-down-the-road-with-the-top-off-looking-cool" purpose.
Even if the tub is of no interest, I (unfortunately) have a 914 sized space in my workshop.
I haven't spoken to Brad, but if you need storage just let me know when you will turn up. I have no immediate plans to fill that space!
Ummmmm, TOP OFF.....CRUSING DOWN ROAD......better than doughnuts...
In a quirky chain of events, I found myself on a business trip to El Ay yesterday...with an hour to kill before my return flight...near San Berdu...So I called 'Bob' to see if he was available to show me the LE on short notice. We met 20 minutes later and I took 50+ pics. Here are a few so you can see the 'white car with the 'orange accents'. Some of that orange is not from the factory...hehe...Its not terminal and looks to be a true LE car, but it is definitely a project car...He says it is complete, but the missing parts were at another location. He has everything except for the front LE spoiler, fog lights, engine, trans, center console. It would need all new rubber, interior, paint, rust repair, a rear trunk lid, door handles, its a rusty tub, but an LE tub if that is important to you. He says he has the heat exchangers, FI and engine tin. Don't know about the linkage.

ouch......what does he want for this car?

That must be one of those "rust-free California cars" that I see advertised on eBay all the time.
I think he's going to have a hard time unloading that car for any real money
...LE or not......the blue GT flared car I gave away had 1/10th of the rust than is on that car and it was still too much for me to deal with........
Sad to say, but I don't see anyone spending the time or money to restore that car...
Says he bought it about a year ago from San Diego...it spent most of its life in Texas, before a guy started parting it out, which is why certain parts are missing. He said the PO allowed someone who merely wanted that top latch part on teh rear trunk lid to go at with a pry bar, which is why the trunk lid and rear panel is munched. A good body man could fix it.
It does have a couiple of redeeming qualities though...it is one of they latest LEs made, it has the light grey headlight motor relay covers (not like the typical black) and it has the salt and pepper carpet like the 75-76 cars, not square wqeave...
Sorry for the BIG pix...
Run Forrest......RUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!
Shoot, that is a good car for Seattle! Here if you can stand where the passenger seat in "It's good!"
It needs some TLC and beadblasting but the longs look good and engine shelf. Plus it's a pretty rare car and in better shape than that six that was sold on Ebay last week. Jenny has ALL the good parts to makeover this car, so how much to fix and paint it is the question.
How much is the roller?
Geoff
Thats my thinking too Geoff....I think the seller may looking for about a Grand give or take...the LE status is worth ~500 by itself and it is a salvagable roller. The rust really shows up in vivid color though...its probably overemphasized in the pix. A good cup wire brush, beadblaster and POR 15 would make this car work.
The California guys ARE spoiled if the roller has ANY rust! You could not believe some of the cars for sale here for $2500!! Total rust and as bad as the free 70 1.7 I had. Beadblasting will fix most of that rust. Shoot, no holes in the floors, trunks, longs thats pretty good! Figure any roller Jenny gets is going to need a paint job, so this roller needs beadblasting big deal, maybe another $500 which is chumpchange. How many Creamsicle's have been for sale in the last few years, what 2? So, Brad will have to check it out for her but it sound doable to me for that $. A resto Creamsicle is worth it especially if you have to go thru all of this to get a car.
Geoff
I don't know, looks like a money pit to me. this is CA, I'm sure you can find a 100 cars better than that one to start. sure, it is an LE, but I doubt that's too important to jenny. you got to figure bead blasting, rust repair, body bumping, and paint is going to run $5k at a BARE minimum even with a possible brad discount.
Its really not that bad y'all...I would buy it if I didn't already own two...My wifes eyes were already rolling when I told her I saw it...
There are rollers out there in better condition, but not that are LE cars. There were only about 300 USA Creamsicle LEs made.
Four-Five years ago, the myth of the California rust free 914 roller was a viable option.......
WORD TO THE FUCKING WISE.....NO MORE.....the 914 is gonna be the next 356.....hang on the stock 914s, get ALL CARDEX documents you, break out the toothe brushes and the "Q" tips.....yer POS, beaters are gonna be GOLD......
An LE does sound very appealing. Much as a V8 sounded appealing when I first started seriously looking to get a 914. But it is a money pit. If I had to invest $ and time into restoring the LE, I'd much rather just invest $ and time into restoring my signal orange 914. Around the same price, I'd imagine, and I don't have to swap all the goods from one car to another. The idea is to hopefully find a structurally sound tub with bad paint, get it reshot, and move engine & other goodies into it.
Damn, an LE does sound cool though.
Jenny, I talked to Brad on Saturday about the LE. He hadn't seen the pics yet but liked the idea. On any tub you are going to have to paint it which is going to cost money. Bead blasting is fairly cheap to clean up lightly rusted areas for the repaint. IF the LE is a sound tub you would be money ahead to use/restore that. Brad said he had never even seen a Creamsicle in person (I haven't either only Bumblebee's and a Grasshopper). We talked about what it would take to fix your car which didn't sound doable due to the pan damage. I agree with Zois as the rust free days are over due to EBAY where any decent 914 is sold at a good price. ($1500-2500).
It will be interesting to hear what Brads opinion of the car is when he sees it. He is still recovering from his whiplash injury he suffered at Hooters.
Geoff
Jenny, any low initial cost 914 is going to be alot of work to sort out, unless you spend the big bucks for one that is already done. Of course thats the car you want and need, its just a matter of $$$ and locating such a car.
Comparing the current J-machine with the LE, both would need painting and the LE car needs less body work by a long shot, so that cost is better than a wash.
You could then swap your current interior and drive train and any other useable bits you already own. Your investment of time and $$$ may be better with the LE car compared to fixin up the pumpkin car.
Whatever you and the B-man decide will be in your best interests, of that we are certain...
From what Brad described only "Rusty" would try to fix Jenny's car as the center tunnel is all bent. Lots of cutting and welding to fix it right, I would only try that on say a 914/6 GT or 916.
Geoff
I'll be meeting up with brad sometime this week to discuss this. He's been incredibly hard to get ahold of. I need to just sit down with him and hammer out options and tub eligibility. I appreciate everyone's input as well as leads. LE still sounds good. Can I V8 it??
NO WAY!! Its one of maybe 300...besides you can barely drive a 2.0L! lol
Geoff
Would this be a good time to ask what makes an LE an LE? I've only noticed the outward appearance... two toned paint, painted sail panels. someone enlighten me
It was a limited edition car, that was a 2.0L loaded with the options, had the "Special Spoiler" no sail vinyl, painted Mahle rims, painted bumpers. It is a 74 2.0L car with trick options to celebrate Porsche win of the CAM-AM series as the cars were to be named that until the last second. The cool part about them is these days is the rarity! 500 black/yellow-300 white/red-10 green/white. For years people just painted over the yellow or red trim as they thought it was too 70's. But they are "Special" cars in the sense that these are the only "Special" cars ever made in the 914's.
Geoff
From what I've read and heard the LE was basically a marketing tool. The 914 numbers had already started to decline and Porsche was looking for a way push sales. The CanAm success is what the idea was linked to, hoping to win on sunday sell on monday.
IMHO it's basically some extra paint and a new spoiler.
I'll call my friend who work for Porsche at that time to see what he remembers about the LE for fun.
Geoff
Make it four chassis. I just got a 73 914 2.0 that was originally silver. It has some funky fiberglass flares but the pan and rockers look very good. In addition, I have a clean title. I can email some picts.
The LE cars are all those things and none of them....all the expressed opinions posted are valid to one degree or another. It depends on ones values and how each one sees the 914.
I won't say more about this until I wrap up my website on the LE cars, which I hope to have real time within a couple weeks or so...as soon as I can figure out how to make html behave.
Let me just say that the Creamsicle LE in San Bernardino is a great opportunity for anyone who shares the vision...They only made about ~250 Creamsicles. And only about 80 Grasshoppers. Some would say that was too many and I respect that, while others will have massive body shakes and drool.
Stay tuned.
Thats Exactly where the LEs stand apart from a standard 914...the Cardex. In fact its the only way to truly know if a given car is an authentic LE or not.
Hmmm... where do you get one of these "Cardex" thingiemaboppers??
From Chuxter site...there are othere references:
"We recommend that you obtain a Certificate of Authenticity, by writing PCNA Owner Relations Dept., 980 Hammond Street,
Suite 1000, Atlanta, GA 30328. They will require your chassis (VIN) number, proof that you are the car owner (registration, bill of sale, or insurance certificate) and a $30 check, payable to "Porsche Cars North America"."
They take 2-8 weeks to receive.
That is old information. They now charge over $100 for one. PCNA outsourced this and the new company set the price.
The price is now 100.00 or something like that costing more for the older cars and less for the newer cars.
heres a link to the 356 registry site explaining the Cof A in deatail.
http://www.356registry.org/Tech/kardex.html
No title or proof needed anymore just the vin here is a request form
http://www.356registry.org/Tech/CofA.pdf
Wow that was fast. 2 replies.
I just ordered and received the COA for my Bumblebee in December 2002. I printed out the information and sent it along with payment and they honored it.
I did the same thing for my other 914 about 6 months ago with the same results.
I have seen that 356 registry site with the $100+ charge and don't know what to say.
The new prices are as of 2003
lucky you
Ummmm, not really....there are a few LEs that have fallen through the cracks......my feeble brain MAY be failing me....everything is....but did not the "Sandy Guy" have an LE that failed to show up on the cardex?
Oh and BTW....why doesn't the auto notify work on this BBS????
I suppose I ought to chime in.
The Limited Edition (LE) is considered by some to be the most prestigious of all the 4 cylinder 914s. It was a unique series of (believed to be) 1000 cars produced in February/March 1974.
The Limited Edition cars came stock with:
2.0 liter motor
Front and rear sway bars
4-bolt Mahle alloy wheels
Appearance group package (center console, etc)
No sail panel vinyl
Special LE front spoiler
Special paint package that included bumpers, rocker panels and wheels painted to match one of three color motifs: Black & Yellow, Ivory & Green and Ivory & Orange.
The series of LE cars were originally called "Can-Am" to celebrate the Porsche 917/30 dominance in the Can-Am series. However, due to a fallout with SCCA over the participation of the 917 in the Can-Am series, that wasn't allowed. They were later christened the "Limited Edition", not to be confused with the "914-S" that was used in advertising in 1973. Our cousins across the pond received a "GT" version, instead of an "LE" car.
Early in my 914 addiction (in 97?), I saw a Grasshopper. I didn't really know what it was at the time, but it was pretty rusty. It had some kind of shag seat covers, too.
The cardex's are also a bit strange. When we first sent off for the Cardex, the color that came back on the card was "Summer Yellow", although that was the trim color.
There is NO WAY the car was ever yellow. I called PCNA back and explained my concern - and they told me that since 914s were usually a "color with black trim", that they just assumed that the note in the file "black with yellow trim" was reversed.
They were very willing to send the corrected Cardex, and apologized for the mistake.
-Rusty
Ok, Rusty what color was the green on the grasshopper car??? I remember a light medium green....
Geoff
I voted the LE out for Jenny. I dont have the time and she wont want to spend that much money.
Here is exactly what I'm looking for:
1970-74 1.7-1.8 cars rollers or complete. One color is all I ask..
B
How much $$ so we know what not to look at?
High of 2500$
I'm not scared of trunk rust or battery tray rot. Solid floors and solid passenger frame rail.
I'll part out what we dont use to recover some of the expense.
B
what about the yellow '73 1.7 on craigslist for $2900? I think that might be the guy I sold my dash top to.
Brad.....there was an all black, running, driving 914 at Dunkels for 2,500 bucks. Maybe one of the gang got a number off of it? Dad
Do you have pink hair, too?
How wuz yur stay, Brad? Wifey dig the wine ?
No pink hair here ! Dad
The stay rocked. I spent most of Monday hanging out with Greg Fordahl swapping lies with him about 914 racing. They did have a SCCA autoX on that Sunday. Its called the SCCA Slush series (which is what we call it) I didnt get a chance to open the wine with her. She isnt feeling well (been sick now for a week) so we will wait until she flies in Friday.
Thanks for the leads "Dad"
B
Craig Laughlin of Camp 914 just hauled the black car seen at Dunkel's to Oregon on a tow dolly. It is now at Camp.
He dropped off my white car at my mechanic's on his way down.
Hum.
There is a new thread waiting to happen.
Should I dolley my 914 or flat tow it ??
B
Please don't get into that one.....I want to keep believing that this method was fine....I'm doing a side shift conversion and the car is getting a thorough going through before I drive it to Indy in May.
I'll drive with you (if you want a passenger) I need a reason to visit family.
Time it around the Michigan 914 meet.
B
Don't worry, Sean--the answer to B's question is "yes, you should".
914s do fine flat-towed or dollied, as long as you don't scrape anything up. And remember to take the car out of gear.
--DD
Thanks Dave! I do feel better now.
Brad,
As far as the drive to Indy goes, I'm going to Anaheim for a show the last week in April. I'll probably be there for a week +/- a couple days to see some friends and then I'm heading east.
If you're up for it, it would be cool with me!
I usually stray a little in Colorado. I like to take I-15 to I-70 and then get off I-70 in western Colorado. I'll go south on Colorado 550 and go south and stop in Ouray (my grandmother took all the grandkids there during our 16th summer). Then I'll go back up north to CO 50 or is it US50? I'll go east from there over the Continental Divide and Gunnison Pass over to Pueblo and then back up to 70 and then the boring stuff of eastern Colorado and Kansas and then on to Indy.
Let me know if you're still interested.
You can also tow them backwards......(2000 miles )just take the trunk lid off, along with the targa top and front and rear glass. Hardly any drag with those gone.
If you guys make the trip and end up driving through Denver, let me know. I'll feed and beer ya. Put you up for the night even if it works out.
As for towing, I dollied the brown car (front on the dolly) from L.A. to Denver with no trouble at all. Worked great in fact. Cheap and easy U-Haul one-way rental.
Here's a link to what could be a deal, For Jenny, I don't know where the car is but came across it surfing, dont know where it is though
http://www.chamberlins.org/
seller: David Branson
Daytime Phone: 719-486-1106
Evening Phone: 719-486-1106
Nope. It's a 75 or 76--look at the bumpers. Still smog-liable in CA. Has to have the evil late-style exhaust on it to pass smog, and still gets inspected for at least another year. (Including on transfer of ownership.) And it's got Dells on it, not FI.
--DD
Ferg, thanks for the lead anyway. Here's what I'm looking for (Brad, feel free to chime in here) I really just need a tub as everything on my orange car is in really good shape and can be transfered over. I want the tub to be straight with no body damage. Paint can be shit for all I care. If it's a stripped tub (hopefully), I'll take it to a paint shop and get the whole thing reshot. I can have a pretty engine bay that way as well. I figure any new paint job (even a Maaco one) will look better than just a tub with decent/good paint. It's less $ to paint than it is to repair body damage.
Any thoughts guys? Pros? Cons?
I understand the smog problem, but I think It's still worth a call, for the money swap your engine in it and use the good parts between the two, looks like the paint and stuff is done for you. If you like gold that is. Hell if 12k was really put into it before it was blown I might want if for an eight conversion. Brad, what say you? Anybody find out where it is? 719 says CO, by me, but when I find it on autotrader it says it's 628 miles away.
What about this one? Yeah, it's a 75, but the price is right! This is Randy W's friend, isn't it??
http://www.craigslist.org/sfo/nby/car/8655694.html
.....needs body work and looking at the floor picture, I think it's rusted more than it appears on the outside....I could be wrong, but I don't think it's worth it for you...someone else possibly......
I was in Denver Tuesday. Darn, missed the free beer. Could have used a few after the drive thru the mountains. Next time.
I was picking up this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2401448501&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAB:US:6
It would have made a good doner for you. The paint isn't great, but the body is straight and no rust.
Yikes! Can we trailer it through a car wash??
>>>>>>>
Hypothetically speaking, if I was able to miraculously get some shop space, can everything be transfered from my car to another tub in a day or two? If I had 3-4 guys that are 914 savvy helping?? I will be offering food, drinks, my gratitude, and sexual favors. Any takers??
Jen
Does Jeff know you are pimping him out ??
If you think it is dirty from sitting in the desert for the last 10 yrs, you should see it now after a 2000 mile ride home at the back of my truck. North Dakota uses what looks like coal dust on their roads to get rid of the ice.
I bet South Dakota didn't even bother to use anything to get the snow/ice off the road though
cheers,
Jeroen
No snow to speak of in South Dakota. They need some or rain. A lot of farmers are selling their cattle off because if they don't get any, it will be a long dry summer. Expect beef prices to rise because of this.
Thanks Andy. Will you be sporting black hair and head banging??
The biggest challange I think will be the location....I'd offer my garage but no one ever wants to drive out to Antioch
Count me in...I can even bring tools and a compressor
Jen,
Sounds like fun. For me, it depends on the dates you pick. I'll join
in if I can.
I have a brand new Porter/Cable Tigerclaw that's looking for
action. (yes, that's a sawzall :-)
(hmmm. where the heck is Antioch?)
kim.
My workshop in San Carlos is on offer as a location.
The Ferrari is gone now, so there is room
R
I wish mine was that big!
I like your garage a lot more.....
hmmmm, what Ferrari did you have??
I never saw that car before.....you didn't get rid of the C2 now have you??
Nooooooo!!!!
It belonged to the previous owner of the house. It was a 330 GTC. I asked for it to be left as part of the house deal, but he didn't go for it...
I still have the C2 and the '75 tub
The workshop is just under 1000sq ft. It has 220V and a built in engine hoist

Ohhhhhh........
I was confused.....I had either the wrong Richard, or I had thought you won the lottery
Is it not hard to get a trailer down into your new garage?
I'll come depending on when, this time I might bring Monique with me so I guess I miss out on the sexual favors, darn.
Geoff
The minimum width on the drive is 8ft 6in. It has to be approached at a slight angle though and the drive is steep.
With a suitable rope it is possible to lower a car down there as long as it rolls. I intend to remove the narrowing, but not anytime soon. If a car has brakes its OK - just with no brakes you could end up embedded in the neighbors roof below
We would have to do something like we did with Andy's Jeep or simply have a longer tow rope. I have never tried to get a trailer down there though.
We moved to that house a year ago from the one in Menlo Park.
I located a CHERRY 1974 Blue Metallic chassis today for 1500$ complete running and driving.
I keep a stash of cars that I dont share with people... well... I dont need this one and its smog legal now.
Oh.. tan interior.
B
You gonna buy it for Jenny?
Sounds like the right car, sell of the stuff you don't need to help fund the chasis.
Yes. We will buy it for her (I would have never told the list if I wasnt LOL)
B
If she doesn't want the tan interior I may be interested in parts of it if in very nice condition.
Its tan and in good shape, but the door panels are late style pattern (76 914)
B
Yay!!! So do you have pictures of it? Metalic blue sounds awsome. I can't wait.
I'm just waiting on the blow by blow description of the sexual favors.......preferably JS with a Studmuffin....or with me.....
Jennny never did say with whom the sexual favors would be with...yikes....maybe she has Burr in mind for 'ya
